So the latest is that not only does our mayor want to start making us pay for parking, but he also wants us to start paying more for plate registration (almost 1.5x more than cars). He also is debating on increasing the fees to renew our actual licenses. The article below has all the details, but the Coles notes version is that he thinks motorcycles are recreational vehicles and therefore subject to these massive increases. Is he doing this to boaters too? I bet not!

I read that he aims to recover 2 million in additional fees through both of these measures! Crazy!
So what, so he can keep the libraries open? Puhleeze!

We should start a petition or something and hound local councillors. I know I'll be demanding my councilor give me some answers and start pressuring the city council to reject this bunny eared scheme! What do you think we should do?

And you wonder why companies are leaving North America. Government is the problem!

WTF ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

time to sell my 1 million dollar's worth of apple shares to proceed this expensive hobby.

Tax actual recreational vehicles first, boats planes etc...some of us use motorcycles/scooters to commute year round.

Edit: you got me

I see some people didn't bother clicking the link.

well first off they should stop classifying scooters as motorcycles because most scooters aren't just for recreational purposes.

Even though this may just be a joke now, I'm sure the OP's comments are on Rob Ford's agenda - seriously, who elected this guy?

Comment before reading...that's a gta trait.

After returning from Cuba, our mayor is looking younger, tanned, better-dressed and in the best shape of his life

Hahah nice =D

would that not be a provincial matter which ford is not able to touch?

First of all ya got me Shane. I thought I had a bad link until it clicked upstairs.

Re the provincial bit, McGuinty passed the Toronto act allowing the city to pass a number of it's own taxes. Miller's vehicle registration tax etc. They have to be careful because some taxes could drive businesses out of the city to the 905 where the surtax didn't exist.
