Reliance Home Comfort?

wonderings

I need to replace my furnace. The one I currently have is 30+ years old and the switch is leaking gas.

I have called Reliance Home Comfort to come in for a quote, they have a promo where you get a $25 pre paid visa or something like that, so I am going for it.

Anyways, the reviews on google are not to favourable, but there was only about 25 reviews. Would like to know if the reviews would be the same here from those who have used them or have history with them. Any other places I should check. I have a local guy quote, just looking for a few others.

I moved into a place that had an existing contract with RHC, although I think they've changed since?? Either way, my experience was relatively positive. While the hardware they rented me was apparently pretty ****, they replaced my busted unit quickly and were always quick to react when the old unit needed servicing. The new unit (while still apparently **** among A/C units) has so far been problem free for about two years now.

Used them for 2 years had about 4 service calls and in all but 1 of the cases they were able to come next day and fit my issue. Cant speak to their instillation though if thats what your asking about.

I'm in a place that inherited an RHC contract for the hot water tank.. Even one of their own service guys laughed at the install job.. More sharkbites than Jaws 1, 2 and 3 :D They were quick to book the service guys (I don't touch rental equipment) and they were competent.

I am in Kitchener. Almost surprised to see good feedback on them, compared to the google reviews which were exact opposite.

Try aircore in Cambridge was around 2g less than reliance for me

People who type reviews are usually 3 types:

Paid-Fakes/Trolls
People who had a bad experience or at least feel they did
People who received over the top exemplary service

Its not always indicative of how good a company is.

Remember the thread bashing carbon cat for the wheel painting!

I wouldn't trust Reliance Home Comfort any more than I would trust Sears Home Services, or HomeDepot home services or anything along those lines. Those companies are more about marketing gimmicks and sub par installation work (most of the time using cheap subcontractors).

Your best source would be a reliable independant contractor.

Amen... As I mentioned, the install job over here was over-the-top ghetto. Reputable independent guys are worth their weight in gold.

Reliance is fully committed to customer satisfaction, if a customer isn't satisfied, they will send the installer back out on his own time., and they will make sure he goes quick

FWIW I used Sipco in Etobicoke to R&R my furnace and A/C a year ago. I usually expect to have to neaten things up after a trade makes an install mess but they were really good. Dealt with Andy, not pushy or overselling.

Our air conditioner was not working most of the summer. My wife called reliance and they sent a sales guy to come in. I came home drunk from a golf tournament and next thing we were signed up with a whole rip/replace of the air conditioner, furnance, and tankless water heater...

The install guys were great finished in one day, and relatively clean. But to be honest, it seems a bit pricey renting in terms of numbers in the long run. However, you don't have to worry about anything if it breaks down. It comes down to peace of mind i guess.

True, but in most cases it is an expensive peace of mind, especially they have you on all three items.

BTW, congrats on the wife, she is a brave one .... :-)

Had a Reliance Home Comfort guy at my place today for a price. WOW they are expensive. Almost double the price for the furnace alone compared to a price I got for a furnace and AC unit from a small local company.

Reliance was offering the bring Rheem, and the local small guy was offering Bryant. I do not know anything about Bryant, but it was recommended by the guy. Seems it is owned by Carrier.

Anyone know anything about Bryant or have used their furnace or ac?

++ Reputable and reliable being the operative words here. I don't understand why anybody would use a big company for anything if you didn't have to.

You believe that every small company or contractor is honest? Sometimes, the opposite is true and some people feel "safer" to go with Home Depot backing it up, because if things go wrong and you go public, they will usually have to do the right thing in the end.

There's probably only a few of real manufacturers/designers of AC and furnace units. Everything else is a re-badge of those products. Warranties is what's different, not the units or their internals. Sometimes the website looks identical, just the name in top left corner is different .... Like with lawn mowers ... LOL
