Revisited this over the weekend:

The directors cut version. I think it's still holds up pretty well, and is probably the most true to TOS version of a Trek movie. Before the slippery slope after Wrath of Khan. Still has some pacing issues, and they could have fleshed out the dialogue a bit better, but it all mostly works. Some of the FX is a bit rough. But there is a grandness to the movie which I like, epic if you will, which is missed from modern movies.

If I remember correctly one of the controversies, at the time, was that they swapped through multiple SFX companies during shooting. ILM is listed as primary, but it seems to me they were the final one used.

It's a bit before my time, I was a "wee lad" when the movie came out. Wrath of Khan was more my gen, I remember seeing that movie playing everywhere they were selling VCR's. As for the motion picture I saw it on TV at some point, which apparently is a different version than the release, kinda typical. Either way the model they created of the Enterprise was fantastic.

At the time of release we hadn't seen any Star Trek since the animated series, in 1975, so it was more than welcome. They kind of overdid it, though, with what felt like 15 minutes of flying around the new Enterprise when I saw it in the theatre.

Havoc - the cgi car chases are almost unwatchable as are most of the fight scenes. Shallow story line as well.

Have not seen this in a while and forgotten some details.
Schmaltzy but heartfelt and I like the cast and the headspace.
The little sister is adorable.
The two leads moved on to other movies.
The movie is used in schools to help kids with loss.
Not sure Anna Sophia Rob was ever so vibrant again tho she did well on the movie about the young surfer her lost her arm to a shark and went back to surfing.
Josh worked out well in Hunger Games.
Enjoyed it again. (y)

NOT my usual fare - a literal cliff hanger
If it wasn't for Anna Taylor Joy I'd not continue. She is very athletic- could see her in more action movies.

Not one of Apple's best offerings but marginally okay.
...
This looks okay tho

If you haven't yet seen Anna Taylor Joy in "The Menu", I highly recommend it.

Re-watched Rogue One after finishing up Andor S2...wow. Such a better film with a direct transition from Andor -> Rogue One.

Enjoyed it much more than the first watch with the added historical context of the rebellion.

I'll take a break from the Star Wars universe for a while and then re-watch it but in order (without the animated series as I never got into those).

I really wish that Andor had gotten the originally planned 5+ season run.

I think 5 seasons would be a lot...2-3 seasons (to me) for these type of series makes sense.

After S2 or S3 I find they run out of ideas and just start throwing things at the wall (not always obviously - i.e.: Better Call Saul, Breaking Bad, Mr. Robot, etc).

Love the movie but have never found a clean copy. It's okay from a distance.
It won an Oscar for cinematography - too bad can't get decent version.
Great cast all around. Tantoo Cardinal seems timeless - saw her in something very recent.
Julia Ormond is glowing. Hopkins an amazing actor.
It's a great sprawling story a deserves better 4k feed. - it's only marginal 1080

BTW in Smilla's Sense of Snow she is wonderful
good book too.

Finally got around to watching Red & Red2, after watching Red I think I had seen it before. Very expendables like. Malkovich kinda steals every scene. Fun watch nothing too deep.

I watched "A Working Man" recently and although most of his films are a fun easy watch this one had a very low-budget feel with a lame script. Not recommended.

Also watched "Nonna's" and it was great. It'll hit you in the feels for sure.
