Hey Everyone...

Saw an interesting ad on Kijiji -- no, it's not mine....
http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-veh...-motorcycle-trailer-400-00-W0QQAdIdZ345764741

Looked at it and contacted the guy with a concern... no brake or signal lights! Apparently he doesn't supply them and leaves it to the buyer.
Considering that, I find his price to be rather on the high side of things (should be at least $100 lower IMHO).

Other concern I had was the lack of suspension - would this cause problems on the highway or on/off ramps?
Never towed a trailer like that before, and think it may tend to skip about in turns if a bump is hit.

Thoughts?

p.s. - Mods - if this should be in for sale etc, please move it. I figured I'd put it here 'cause it's open for discussion...

Does it need lights? I thought as long as you can see the tow vehicle's lights......may be wrong

Junk it needs suspension or will bash the hell out of your bike and bounce all over the road this is a better deal and has suspension.

That's what I figured.. was just curious to see what everyone else thought...

Bike trailer doesn't need suspension. Some articles I've read even suggest a trailer without suspension. The suspension on the bike will pick up the bounces on the road no problem.

That trailer still looks like a piece of junk though, no fenders, no lights. It's been a long time since I've seen the exemption for no lights on a trailer (like a car dolly doesn't require them) but that thing would certainly need fenders, and I'm thinking enforcement would argue that it needs lights, I would want lights on it. Hard to tell in the photo, but the axle doesn't look that strong really, and the rail supporting the bike is basically unsupported. Maybe fine to haul something light but put a goldwing or large cruiser in there I'd be concerned going long distances with it

Interesting that the photos show two different wheels setup on the trailer so it would appear more than 1 of these pcs of crap are out there. Yes it needs lights. Tail/brake and plate light to be legal.
No suspension would make that a very bad idea to pull.

Trailers do not need brake or tail lights except a night.
62.(24) Lamps required on rear of trailer, etc.
When it’s dark or difficult to see, your trailer must have one red light on the back that can be seen from 150 metres away.

62.(25) Lights on vehicles, objects and contrivances over 2.6 metres in width
When it’s dark or difficult to see, if any part of your vehicle, your load, or anything you’re towing is more than 2.6 metres (8.5 feet) wide it must have 2 red lights or 2 red reflectors, one on each extreme corner.

ScubaSteve, where can i find a printout of those regulations? It's different from anything I've been lead to believe, I'd like to read the whole thing.

You Couldn't pay me $400 to put any of my bikes on that POS

As for Lights
I Picked up a Set of LED Trailer lights w/harness in the States for $25 (Walmart)
So cost of Lights aren't an issue

Where do you see suspension on that thing?

Edit: I see now it has a torsion axle.

Bigevildoer,
Ship it to http://cbiusa.com/ and pick it up from Niagara Falls. There was one post where the guy was explaining how to bring harbor freight trailer across the border. From what I remember you say you have parts and not a trailer to customs officer...

has anyone secured the bike to trailer as per the pictures? It seems very flimsy to me.
Looks like going this route will involve welding / bolting some tie-down points to this frame.
