Can you set up the Beltronics STI on your bike so that it functions exactly like it would in a car ?
 
Where are you going to put it on a bike, where it is not in plain sight and will still work?
 
Years ago I bought a Whistler brand radar detector while driving through Calgary Alberta. The guy made certain the model I bought had "anti VG2" detection, which is what the popo "radar detector detector" technology is called. Sure enough it works! :D

When I said to the salesman I was worried about losing my new detector "if" the cops spotted it, he threw in an old BROKEN detector into the sale for free. So IF I get pulled over I should stuff the good detector away & pull out the broken one. Give the cop the broken one if he asks for it :rolleyes:

Only problem for me was that the Leo asked me for the real one.
Cost me the fine and it was confiscated.
No fooling him. He hooked it up and got really nasty.
"OK where is the working model?" Busted.
 
As previously mentioned, radar detectors are illegal in Ontario. Not mentioned, was that it is one of very few circumstances that allow an officer to search the motor vehicle WITHOUT A WARRANT. That means anything that is in the vehicle that isn't supposed to be there is fair game if the officer finds it. Food for thought if you are hauling around a dead body in the trunk, or have a couple grams of pot.

Good idea NordicMan, but....when mine got confiscated the cop had me plug it in turn it on, and he double checked it with his radar detector detector. Just my luck to have the most anal cop in the country. haha. And this was around 1986.

Vg2 is old tech you need on that is invisible to the newer detectors, careful as lots of companies claim vg2 invisibility but are easily detected by the newer units.

It's funny you mention that, because it was probably in the late 90's that I bought the detector :D and at that time the "anti-VG2" was quite reliable at hiding the detector from the cops. About the only way the cops could tell I had a detector was if they could see me jamming on the brakes the moment they hit me with an instant-on zap :o

I wasn't sure if just the anti-VG2 system is still sufficient today or have the cops invented any new detection methods?

And, is a 15-20 year old radar detector useful at all, today? This thing had X,K,KA,radar, and anti-VG2 detection.. maybe more. Heck it cost nearly $400 at that time!!

I thought a couple grams of pot was within personal use? or are my measurements off?

New detectors for the cops your anti VG2 will get found I had an older Bel that was stealth but isn't anymore. Long story short don't use an older detector.
 
Escort Redline or the Bel sti and the AntiLaser Priority jammer are the best of the best. There's a number of new laser guns out that older jammers can't handle.

Downside of latest tech is auto blind spot monitors continue to sound k band alerts

Yes.. Only thing is you may not hear it squealing over wind noise or may not want the cop to hear it squealing. The fix for this is to use the 3.5 mm jack to run bright red LED's facing you from your dash or windscreen. It works.

I've never liked any of the light systems and I've used a couple of the sophisticated ones. You need to be able to differentiate the warning and I don't like moving my eyes to id the warning. I'm old school and like the audio warning via earphones or helmet speakers
