Brother in law bought it down in Barbados airport at the duty free. $200USD.
Straight, no ice is the only way to go.
Wisers is for mixing in our house. Anything else is straight.
Even got myself one of those whiskey kits where they have stones to cool off the drink without diluting it.
My wife got me a smoke kit for Christmas and find it can enhance the right cocktail. Has the typical apple wood, cherry wood, cinnamon etc.
We’ve done it to a few Old Fashioned and I’ve done it to a couple of cheap Whisky that I sip straight so adding a Smokey flavour is nice. Playing with a torch and alcohol and not burn down the house is a win.
Recommend it to start early for fun and abandon as the night goes.

I like my beers and liquors, and while in Australia, this is what I buy at Dan Murphy's discount. Unfortunately, none of them are available in Canada. I still have a bottle of Drambuie sitting there.
My drinking buddy in Oz as he calls me (I do not drink and drive, I do not drink and fly aircraft and I do not drink and go to the shooting range), has some great stories when he was a forensics detective in Sydney, Australia. Yup entering a home where some person was dead for days...and in the heat. He was well paid.
Over here, local beers just do not do it for me having motorcycled through Europe a lot. I go though countless cases of LEZAJSK from Poland.

Came across this in Muscle Shoals, Alabama last week after years of searching, the elusive Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon. You have to enter a lottery to get a bottle and can sell for up to $1000. It was pretty good but you can get other bourbons almost as good for a fraction of the price. The Mrs. and I each had a shot before dinner, $65 US each. I can cross that one off my bucket list.

If you fancy a trip to Niagara on the Lake, Spirit of Niagara Distillery has a wonderful mash whisky that does better than most being a Bourbon wannabe.
Cost $45 and very good value for those missing true bourbon but, too stubborn to purchase the real stuff.
As long as they continue to make it, I think I’ll keep it in stock at home.

When I got married, I bought my my best man a bottle of crown royal xr. It is still the most expensive bottle I have ever bought (a bit over $200 iirc).I am up at his cottage this weekend and we were going to open it. Thankfully (or not), we checked value before opening it. As it's a red label with the last of the booze from the waterloo distillery before it was destroyed by a fire, current value seems to be $2-3k. We have decided not to open it and it has become an investment. It can go back in storage and get sold in the future to fund an adventure.
Tried that a few times, very good bourbon.
It brings the proof down to a level that the alcohol isn't burning/overpowering your pallet/taste buds. *
* For scotch, anyway. I got in a fight with Captain Morgan at the Anchorage Bar (RIP) in NotL in '76 and wound up with a TKO in the bushes out front. Haven't been able to put up with the smell of rum ever since, so I can only assume it's the same reason.
