Pickup Trucks

I love it and would be very happy if it shows up on our market. Unfortunately I don't think it'll meet all the specs / price levels because we know how things go.

The Maverick started out as a 'cheap and affordable' truck...in it's first year of release. Each year Ford kept cranking the price little by little and the 'cheap and affordable' part of it disappeared.

I bought my used 2023 for 36k. The car specced the same way today would be about 45k or so + + + . Add the new hybrid options and all of a sudden that cheap and affordable truck becomes 50k or so.

Now...if you want bare bare bones you're looking at 37k or so for the lowest trim, not including tax and delivery. That's not 'cheap and affordable' to the masses.

But...people are paying for it. And have shown that the price doesn't really matter. The Maverick was a grand slam for Ford and they couldn't keep up with deliveries with people waiting up to 14-15 months for a specific spec truck from the order books.

I remember back in the old days  when the base price of the C8 Corvette was only $68k CAD. Now they start at $91k.

True but every dealer was adding $20k+ surcharge on their allotment so everyone who got one was paying over $100k and had a 1+ year wait time. That's why every used one you see now is still the cost of a new one because the sellers are so underwater on them. Now you could negotiate a new one on the lot for well under $90k.
In comparison a '20 F150 Lariat was $60k then as well though ($85k now).

Zero sympathy. Dumb enough to pay the premiums? You deserve it.

For that model, and on a car you're going to drive, for sure. Sometimes it works out but you've got to be selective (C7 ZR1 knowing it's a one year and final year as well as any Ford GT40 those guys have all worked out nicely).

Sure. But paying premiums on odyssey, sienna, Maverick or any car that’s normal and high production…fools.

Paying extra for a GT3RS or anything in limited numbers…one can make a profit.

Why in Europe and Asia and now Africa, they run diesels and no DEF

Toyota, VW , fords seems to be the biggest sales in Africa. Yup the ranger has a diesel power plant

There were some dealerships that weren't jacking up the price, but they were few and far between. I haven't found a car I like enough to pay over list. The Honda dealer downtown on Richmond and Sherbourne ****** me off when I went to buy an S2000 and told me they wanted $50k even though the list was $38k. I bought elsewhere.

I’ve had multiple dealers tell me I’m out to lunch asking for a discount on their cars…shockingly those cars are still up for sale….6-8 months later.

Guess I wasn’t out to lunch as far as they said.

First time we’ve taken the Maverick to the cottage with all 3 kids.

Not as roomy as the odyssey but 3 seats fit (2 boosters + 1 forward facing).

All the stuff fit. Comfortable. Efficient.

Overall very happy with how the Maverick is turning out for our family.

Found a truck that is of interest to me.
Nissan frontier 198k for a few hundred bucks. Know and trust the current owner.
Everything works, but has some rear fender rot and a busted leaf spring in the rear.
Anyone know where I could get it "safetied" without breaking the bank?
This will be 90% farm truck 10% home Depot runs.

Outlook not so good. Busted leaf spring is easy to replace (afaik, busted spring is automatic fail). See section 8 for rust. If it could hurt a pedestrian, that's a fail. Imo, if a pedestrian is tangled in your rear fenders, they are already pretty hurt.

Good luck. Any mechanic I've talked to over the last 6 months have said they're a lot more scared of ministry repercussions now that they are required to take photos and measurements and document things better. Even getting my trailer safetied was a bigger deal this year. I'm sure if you head Brampton way you may increase your odds but who knows.

Still searching for my dream truck for about a year now. 2022 F250 lariat diesel. I check about once a week. Still the only thing coming up (sparsely) are stripped XL and XLT work trucks. One came up in Hamilton a couple weeks ago at Ford dealer but sold within a day or two. They are also still holding their value well, can get a 2023 or 2024 gmc or chevy for about the same price as a 22 Ford. Waiting for all these people that will supposedly default on their loans but not having any luck. 🤷‍♂️

You probably know this but checking once a week likely won't cut it. Put a search-save in both Kijiji and Autotrader and Marketplace so you get notified the same day one gets listed otherwise it'll likely get snagged before you even see it if it's a desired vehicle.
Sports/muscle cars are dropping in price fast over the past few months. Maybe they do this every year as Spring turns to Summer and people have stopped looking and already have they're ride for the year at this point but I'm seeing cars that were scooped at one price 2 months ago now sitting at the same price now.
I couldn't get a good enough deal on a 2-3yr old truck and everyone wanted 20k less than a new one on a truck that's 3yrs old and has 75k on it with no warranty so I ordered new at a good price.

Go to a dealer and tell them exactly what you’re looking for , it’s surprising what they can find . Then comes the part about what are you will to pay .

Concur, OEM dealer network can typically see all in country stock and what's due to land in Canada shortly.

That’s level of trim in a 250/2500 is common with farmers, they need the sturdier truck and they almost always go for the premium trims.

Problem is those trucks are worked, and farmers sweat them hard and put on big kms before they sell.

How much are you looking to spend on a decent truck?
Like I stated this one would have been a few hundred bucks, as I know the owner.
Currently My truck budget is zero dollars.
