New tires for new season 2020 - options, supplier, installer

So I’m looking for tires.
conti trail attack 2
listed on Fortnine they have 170/ 60 R17 (K Spec)
the k spec is a small amount more than the same tire less K spec.

does anyone know what K spec is?

Still haven’t been able to find out the difference between the k spec and non k spec other than price.
anyone know what it would signif?

I believe K spec is KTM specific higher speed rating. The K does stand for KTM.

The "K-Spec" rating does indeed stand for OEM KTM replacement as it's a tire made to their specs (other brands have similar designated tires, Pirelli has a D-Spec for example which is as you guessed, a Ducati tire). In this case the K-Spec Conti Trail Attak has the same load rating (LI) however has a slightly higher Speed (SI) rating of W at 270Kh/h as compared to the non-K tire which is rated at V 240km/h.

I have used Bridgestone 016 on my 2002 ZRX 1200r for years now. Bought many sets out of the US delivered to me when there on trips. Last set I got, however, was out of Fortnine a year or two ago. Best price I could find, even better than the US considering exchange etc.

Now the 016s are not the stickiest of donuts but last and perform very well on our flat straight roads. They will outperform most riders in twisties once you find those twisties.

If you burn tires off in 3000 kms then have at the $500 hoops and impress your friends with how much you spent. If you are not that way inclined, maybe give them a try.

Pops

I've used Bridgestone T30 and T30 Evo on my relatively heavy ST and they are very good tires, but short lived, 7,500 and 10,000 KM respectively. They corner well and inspire a lot of confidence. Images are after a few days in southern Ohio area. I have a T31GT I'm putting on now and I hope it will perform as well, but last longer.

Since the OP was also asking for suggestions...

Dunlop Roadsmart 3 - solid. Great grip, excellent longevity
Pirelli Angel ST - great tire, same longevity as Roadsmart 3
Bridgestone T30 - decent grip, but feel really wooden and have lousy feedback

Rode the dragon at spirited pace with the Roadsmart 3 and Angel ST rear tires on (had Q3 and Rosso 3 fronts) and neither had any problem with the grip.

All 3 were good in the rain.
I did the Dragon and surrounding on Roadsmart 2 on GSXR1000 and the grip was excellent. Better cold grip than a cold Q3 yet heated up much quicker and got almost double the mileage as the Q3's/Powers I was running previous.
My Multistrada is almost due for tires and I'll be putting RS3's on to replace the Sportec7RR's on it now.

+1 on the Angel ST's
very, very good in the rain
turned in nice and wore quite well

your KTM is an a ADV I think Clutt?
Avon TrailRider is a nice 90/10 tire
similar on-road properties to the Angel ST's
and very nice on gravel/dirt

tldr version:
Any modern tire from any of the big manufacturers is going to be good, flip a coin and enjoy

I have a set of Michelin Road 5's on now. They feel nice, but I think I like the Pilot Road 4's better so will probably go back to them. Best mileage I have had so far from a PR4 is just under 20k from a rear while
commuting and worst mileage is 7k off a rear doing Smoky Mountains. I think I'll get around 18k off this Road 5 rear, but that has been mostly commuting and cold weather mileage.

I've been told the PR4 is discontinued and no one has them in stock...I had them on my FZ6R and loved them...wanted these for my FZ07...if you know of a place that has them in stock, please let me know...

Just an update:
Installed Bridgestone Battlax T31. Did not drive it yet but from rolling the bike at the garage; compound feels softer than pervious generation so hopefully more grip on the road.

Maybe Royal Distributing has them in stock online. They seem to have them for the size I need for my bike.

I can cut a 3/16" chain, laying on a train rail, with one hit from a sledge hammer. gotta nail it right on the edge of the rail. Do I qualify?

and yes, I have changed my own tires several times. never used a sledge, but a two pound or so hammer can help w spoons and butter knives....

Going to try the new Michelin Power 5 this year. 190/55 and 120/70. Looks like great dry traction, just worried about the wet since there are no sipes on the side, although I know I wont be leaning over that far if caught in a rain storm.

I just installed Michelin Road 5 GT for my other bike. I will update on the performance soon.

I've had good luck with the Battkax T30 and T31GTs. ( on an FJR1300)
Have a new set sitting in the garage waiting to be installed... I think they were about $330 to my door from FortNine.

I do my tire changes myself, but man... if I knew installs where such an issue for so many I might have considered setting up shop and offer the service... $20 and a coffee.. Lol

*Portential liability being what it is precludes this of course. Y'all on your own..

I have T31 on GSX. Michelin Road 5GT is much more sticky tire than T31. Bridgestone feels like is cheaper compound. Just 2 cents.
