My version of ignition switch #2

Where do you carry the white stool? Do you have a special backpack for it? Or does it just bungee onto the back of the bike?
This video proves one thing; Windsor is as boring as it looks.

:lmao:

Pretty cool OP

Clever project and all, but if the phone dies/reboots, does the bike stall?

Looks like you should plan on all that stuff failing at some point.

very awesome op!

heres a cool idea too if you can pull it off that would be sick!!

so have a phone mount, and a usb cable going into the dash some how.
so once you mount your phone and plug it in, the bike starts. phone starts charging as well
and once phone is removed, the bike turns off

while plugged in i guess if you can make an app that shows, either GPS map, or various information about the bike (fuel level if theres only a fuel gauge...etc)

Yes, a great idea to have your bike shut off if it loses connection to the phone.
So a bump on the road or somehow the phone connection going bad or even gasp rain.

This thread just shows how far ppl would go to keep something going that is NOT needed never mind the safety implications.
How many of you work for the Government?

*I get it the OP did it for fun.

How big is a key?
How big is a phone?

How big is a key?
How big is a phone?

When I was working on a bluetooth datalogger to an Android phone I thought of and quickly discarded the idea of a starter from it. Starting from the phone is just too inconvenient except as a backup for your key.

Somebody else might be able to think of something better, but to truly replace the key and be convenient my only idea was a single button pattern starter. So a single starter button that you need to tap in a knock pattern like shave and a hair cut before the bike starts. This would mean you could start the bike without anything and a single button (key barrel would still be there) would be obscure enough that people would need to be told the idea before they even started to try and decode it. Multiple buttons like a keypad screams that a code needs to be entered. Never figured out a way (though I didn't try either) to get the steering lock to work and I like the steering lock.
