Maple sap buckets hung but the snow is deep

Thumbs up for country schools (and teachers). Teachers took the little kids out and tapped a tree. The kids all got to try some sap. They're not going to collect enough to boil it but the kids had fun and learned.

I boiled what I had from the two trees and got a litre. I'll see how much I get this week.

Filtering, finishing and bottling today

Looks like 32 litres of finished syrup.

I’ve got 6l so far and another 1.5 boiling down. Sap seems to be turning off.

I started boiling off in a closed bbq - wow fast. Cuts way down on reflux, I can boil down 15l in 3 hrs, was taking 20hours on the induction plate.

So apparently the kids teachers are more awesome than I thought (and I like them a lot). They are boiling down the sap to surprise the kids next week.
