Looking for new Moto-Shoes, suggestions?

Thanks for your input everyone!
I think you people have me convinced with getting a full race boot. The whole ankle protection is making the deal for me. I'm just a little worried about how uncomfortable it may be after wearing them all day and not being able to get full range of movement on the joint.
Also, are they mostly waterproof? I see a lot with vents. And don't these make a clickity-clackity sound when you're walking, kinda like ski boots?

Anyone also care to chime in on Sidi boots? I've been checking those out at the show!

you don't necessarily need a full "race" boot. Especially if you're like me whose bike is their primary vehicle. I would hate to wear my Sidi's to school or if i'm going to the mall or anywhere else. I only use em on the track and weekend joy rides with my two piece. Go look at the second pair of Puma's I posted...

This.
I have a pair of Dainese Torques that you can't really bend if you tried and I recently purchased a set of Daytona Evo Sports for the track.
The Dainese's are quite cheaper and offer similar protection.

The Dainese Torques are what I ended up with as well, and I find them to be very comfortable. And not just for a full boot, but in general. I've worn work boots which were less comfortable for shorter periods of time. Bluntly, I love these boots.

I wouldn't say they are waterproof, however. The leather will get wet, as will my feet, but they are still typically the driest when I come in from riding in the rain.

I ended up with a pair of Gaerne Balance. Not what you are looking for, but after they were broken in they are the most comfortable pair of motorcycle boot I have ever owned.

The way you guys talk about ankle protection makes it sound like anything less than a ski-boot is a waste of time LOL

In the most serious of crashes on the street; NO amount of protection will help/save you. So buy what has adequate protection to instill confidence... I'm becoming a believer of the notion that "the best thing you can do for safety is ride safely".

Can't beat the Puma styling, suede and Gore-Tex...

These looks pretty damn awesome. It's likely that you can bend the boots at the ankle, but I'm pretty sure ANY boot intended for street use can bend at the ankle, even those posted by LoneRonin, which I think are good enough for street use - go to a showroom and check it out for yourself... the key thing is to have *some* ankle protection for abrasion, maybe an impact pad or two and a design that prevents the shoe coming off altogether.

Ankles, knees and wrists are a ***** to recover. I still have a limp every once and awhile from where I bashed my knee up about 11 years ago.

Another vote for the Puma Flat II's or whatever they are called currently. I wear mine commuting to work and back way more than my full boots. As you liked the shift shoes, these would be a step up.

Revi'it makes some a bit taller like these http://www.revzilla.com/product/revit-air-blend-boots or their fighter model..

I'm currently wearing the Alpinestars SMX-2 boot. Comes up above the ankle, but not something I want to be wearing for spirited rides through the twisties where its possible I could be travelling above posted speed limits. I think I am going to be picking up a pair of Sidi ST's for the agressive riding, and using my SMX-2's for riding to/from work, visits to friends etc. The boots will be the next thing I get, after completing my 2pc suit

Don't have any... :\
I got puma ducati on sale $40 from outlet mall in the US.

Please tell me you do not actually consider this to be motorcycle gear?

Sidi's are junk get Daytona's or Dainese if you want any protection.

They also tend to cost more than the others. Somehow I failed and found both of these things out after I bought them.

Daytona is the most expensive out of the bunch.
Maybe I just got a really bad price then. My Sidi MegaGore came to like $730 (if I remember right) after everything from GP Bikes. After doing more research I was finding products with much better protection for way less than half that.

If you're willing to spend that kind of money on a pair of boots then buy the Daytona's.
Fan-****ing-tastic boots...
Haven't had the chance to try them out because I picked them up in the off-season, but I wore them around the house a couple of times to break them in. Very comfortable.

I also like the fact that there's an inner boot and an outer boot and the outer boot is replaceable.

It does say "Ducati" on the side. :D

Its for the guido squids on supersports their daddy bought them. You'll see a lot of in the Woodbridge area...They'll wear those shoes their Ducati branded tops and t-shirts with shorts and then go around posing like they're hot ****...

Meanwhile I'll be riding circles around them on my 250...

I just picked up Alpinestars Fastlane, honestly I needed something which didnt look like a race boot, but performed better than a street shoe. I did not ride in them yet, but they are comfy, and go high enough to protect the ankle, plus it has reinforced heel and toe area. I know they are not as protective as most boots out there, but I rather ride it these than a street shoe, just my 2 cents
