With all the negative lately, how about a little positive? Police DID NOT charge the homewner.

Did Douggie intervene? I’ll bet his video congratulating a legal gun owner for shooting a burglar will have some use in a few court cases.

Break into my house you better be brave enough to risk your life - ‘cause I’m brave enough to risk your life.

This pretty much explains it perfectly

Tinted plate covers make it impossible to report plate numbers in hit and run collisions, which directly impacts the general public. Heavy window tint is a danger to officers as they can't determine vehicle occupancy, or actions of the occupants. We don't live in Arizona. You don't need heavy tint.

The plate thing is something I've been wanting for years.

A few years back caging solo back from Manitoba in the middle of the night, northern Ontario, and taking advantage of no other traffic, I suddenly realized I was either being pulled over or the Northern Lights were in blue red mode. Sub HTA 172 but barely.

It was pitch black as I pulled over and and turned on the interior lights of the car. The officer advised me of the wildlife risks, moose and bear, and let me off with a warning. I kept my promise.

I can't help but feel he appreciated the gesture and that a chippy attitude from me could have been expensive.

LoL...

Here's a funny one...
My brother got arrested on Good Friday.
'Goes out at 03:30 to start his car in prep to leave for work... He somehow locks himself out of the car... his keys, wallet etc INSIDE the car.
He's also now locked out of his house..

As he's out there trying to break into his own car.. TPS rolls up on him and they end up taking him into custody...
Hours later he's released...
TPS did him a solid though and gave him a ride back to his place... 'car was sitting there still running.

I made damned good money, from tips, when I worked in the old Terminal 1 parking lot. Got really good at getting into cars when people locked their keys in them. Running cars pretty much doubled what they offered to get help :ROFLMAO:

(These days I'm trying to learn basic lockpicking)

Been there and made a set of picking tools. It's harder than the UT videos would lead you to believe.
It absolutely is more difficult. I bought a cheap set of picks to get a trigger lock off my 1022, because the key wouldn't fit for some reason. Got that off and decided to try my hand at it, with more locks and better picks. One thing I learned was that the new locks, that I bought to replace my 40 year old East German locks that I use on my pistol box, are worse than the originals. As in 'picked by hitting a single pin' worse. i still haven't managed to pick the old ones.

Purely in jest but do the regs state exactly where the key for the trigger lock has to be or cant be?
The regs don't state that you need trigger locks. I just prefer to use them, in addition to locked storage.

I once took a guy turkey hunting who did not have a place to hunt. I picked him up at his house and he loaded his gear in the back of my truck and made the 50 min drive to the killing fields. Once there I put on my vest, slid my boots on and grabbed my gun (in the gun sock). Buddy was sliding his hard Plano gun case across the tailgate and picking it up and I just looked at him and asked WTF are you doing? He said he carries his gun out in his case - I grabbed a spare gun sock out of my equipment tote and said use this and he said 'no you can never be too safe'. I lock the truck up and we walk out separate directions as we are hunting two different bush lots.

I got to my spot put out my decoys, and got settled down in my blind and slowly took the gun sock off and quietly slide a Hevi13 into the chamber and gently drop the bolt and then slid another in the tube, then shut my eyes until I they started gobbling on the roost. At 10:30 I grab my decoys, put them in the back of my vest and head towards the truck and as soon as I hit the field I can see buddy sitting beside my truck in the distance.

Apparently this clown locked his gun case AND used a trigger lock (both non combo locks) and he left his keys in my truck cup holder. Apparently yes, one can be too safe. PITA gave his a lifetime achievement award for that stunt. No, I never hunted with that guy again ;)

This clown (me) used keyed locks on his rifle case... he realized what a bone head move that was when he got to CATSA at the Regina airport and couldn't find the keys.*
Luckily... He was able to borrow a 4' set of bolt cutters from airport security.
The keys...?
Likely slid off the roof of my rental car and are now on the Trans Canada hwy somewhere in Saskatchewan.

*There's a document CATSA insists must go inside the gun case hence the need to open it up.
