I don't know how y'all city slickers do it...

How you riders who live in the city do it... I do not know.
I'm talking about riders who live "down town", in condos... Like real urban dwellers.
The kind of riders who have to park in underground garages because they just don't have anywhere else.
I live in I guess what I used to consider the 'burbs... Burlington/Hamilton-ish.
These days it's the traffic that really saps the enjoyment out of going for a ride, just for the sake of going for a ride.
The sheer volume of cars and for the worst part transport trucks makes riding a chore. The lousy roads don't help either.
I can't imaging the suck of being on a nice/performance bike trying to survive downtown T-dot traffic....

Rant mode off.

I consider myself very lucky. I don't think I'd ride if I lived in the city.

We live in 403 / Winston Churchill area and getting to relatively quiet country side roads takes about 30 minutes, which is a pain. Traffic volume has been building for years and IMO the ride is marginal at best.

Retired, we have a cottage in the Kawarthas and the bike lives there from about end of April to end of October.

Best riding times are before school lets out and after Labour Day, weekdays in particular when the roads are empty.

Same here. We've lived in Orangeville since 1991. I commuted into TO for work until my retirement in 2011. After retirement I think I've only been inside the city limits two or three times and that has cemented my opinion that Toronto traffic is to be avoided at all costs.

E scooters, Uber E-bikes and virtually no enforcement has made it noticably worse in the last few years.

'Just seems in my immediate area, say a 50km radius from my driveway there's never a day/time when the traffic doesn't suck.
But hey... I'm sure the 16% property tax hike coming up will be used to improve the roads 'round here😀

Even though now I live in Miserysauga, I work in the the TDot and commute on the bike almost every day. I love riding the bike in the city, but don't really enjoy driving the car there. I loved living in the city too - there's just so much interesting stuff going on.

We used to live in a condo across from Fort York and loved that too. At one point I had 3 bikes in my condo spot and our condo management never gave me a hassle about it. The only thing I would be nervous about now more than before is the increased bike thefts from condo garages.

Whenever we retire, we are planning on moving back into our condo and I'm looking forward to it:)

Good roads and trails both start at my driveway but if I lived downtown I'd for sure have a bike.
I typically avoid going anywhere that's busy enough to have traffic lights but I recently went to the Jays final home game and the riders of bikes enjoying zipping through traffic and easily finding parking compared to the cagers was very evident.

I lived in "da hood", and commute on the bike daily. It's **** to deal with traffic either way, and it's just less miserable on the bike (can at least filter ahead when appropriate). Free street parking is a big plus as well.

I live in Bath Ontario.
It take me about 4 minutes to get to the open road if traffic is not to bad.
Life just sucks and I may have to move out to the country.
No spouse, no job, no kids, no pets, no mortgage and I still complain !!!
