how many riders can be on a motorcycle

So if anyone is interested, the website for that child harness is t-jridingbelts.net
It's the only place I know of to get it. They are sold online direct from the manufacturer near Windsor. They are now $169, but I guarantee your kid will never fall off.

Q: How many riders can be on a motorcycle?
A: 0 or 1

The real question is "how many passengers?"

I see the winter has been too long for some of us. When we start comparing the safety of how they ride in the Philippines to here.... well yeah

The nanny state is strong in this thread.

Strong IT IS !!

The real question is "how many passengers?"

Ok, :-) should I have asked , how many "passengers" can be behind the "operator" of a motorcycle... :-)

I would like to vote this the most useless thread of the century.
What kind of person would not only put one kid at risk on his motorcycle, but put two kids at risk?
Don't get me wrong. My boys were on my bike as soon as they could touch the pegs.
Even the thought of putting two kids on your bike, shows a complete disregard for the safety of children.
Then going through the thought process of figgering out how to do it goes beyond belief.
There are laws to keep people safe.
Now you want to break a law, and put kids at risk. OMG

Hmm,, I really didn't want to break a law... or injure someone either..
sort of strange how the mind messes with reality...
like,, sooo many worry about the children... when in reality it is senior , elderly that are the problem.
soo many worry about getting hit by a vehicle in a big city,, when in reality, it is urban roads that are the problem,,
soooo many worry that a young motorcyclist will get killed.. but in reality.. it is the 45- to 54-year-olds that are the problem..

anyway , in my google research... I couldn't find any evidence that children are at risk on a motorcycle...
http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/motorvehiclesafety/tp-tp2436-rs201002-1067.htm

altho Children were more likely than pedestrians of other ages to be hit by a bus... so maybe we shouldn't let kids anywhere near a bus.........

Three children are in critical condition remained in hospital

Well they are defacto more at risk than kids in a car just statistically and in an accident they will be more prone to seriouse injury than an adult. But that should not stop you if your kids meet the leal requirements and have appropriate safety equipment and that they understand how to ride with you safely. It's all about knowing your kids and assuming a risk your comfortable with.

You probably won't fid much stats because kids injured as passengers make up a none significant population.

A school bus? You started this thread with the mention of a 3 year old.A 3 year old is not much more than a toddler!

Yea I think the police would be inclinded to agree. What ever the charge they would lay against you for the hta violation would be for having a the 3 year old on the front there might also be a child endangerment charge. Op I suggest you stick to the letter of the law on this one.

well,, 3yr 9mths.. already riding dirt on their own...

so,,, to put everyone at ease.. instead of putting 2 kids on one bike... I will ride with one , and the wife will ride with the other.

Probably for the best to keep you out of legal trouble.

So,, legally? , in Canada?.. how many riders can be on a bike on the road?. And what age is legal?.
I know it is socially acceptable right now to have only one passenger.. but i wonder if I met the legal requirements of the HTA... would a cop still have grounds for some other charge?

"I suggest you stick to the letter of the law on this one" are very good words.. my full intention. see original post.. I just don't know if there are "other" laws than HTA....
reading the letter of the law is clear the kid can't ride in front of the operator.... understood .

Please don't take this as anything but advice.Usually "the letter of the law" can be found with just a bit of good old common sense.
