how many riders can be on a motorcycle

That's seems to be fair? Thanks. I will be looks into one of these. As my son is 5 and like the added security of knowing he Ian going anywhere. Maybe even some longer rides together.

Well,, that says REAR of the operator.. so good information,,, as one in front would be illegal... {wondering what the charge is}

And the def of "Highway" in MTO HTA is “highway” includes a common and public highway, street, avenue, parkway, driveway, square, place, bridge, viaduct or trestle, any part of which is intended for or used by the general public for the passage of vehicles and includes the area between the lateral property lines thereof; (“voie publique”)
 
I have a solo seat on the bike in the avatar .. but there are passenger foot rests... so she sits on the fender.. hedo2002 implies I can only have one rider, as there is only one seat...

It is set by the seating positions so 2 seats means 2 people max. You could "try" to get away "but your honor the seat is big and the kids small so I fit two kids on one seat" argument...

The child is fastened securely to you, for good or for bad. But they will definitely not fall off.

Finally! Somebody actually looked it up.

Under the HTA, a "highway" is generally any public roadway.

By this definition you could technically have as many passengers as you want as long as they have pegs and sit behind you.

And as the HTA sets out I am correct, they can NOT be seated on the fender..it is not a seat, which is required under the act. The charge would be, (not sure of the wording of it now), Carry passenger on vehicle not properly equipped, then it would list the section above. That would be for passenger on fender for passenger in front of rider then it would be carry passenger improperly and fall under subsection (a). I have written a ticket for carry passenger on a single seat bike, But that was way back in the 80's...lol

Yes my kids can reach the foot pegs. It's a little different here, I live in a town of 5000. All of the riding around here is 80k back roads, risk is still there of course but not at all like riding in Toronto area lol. I have been riding and amateur racing all my life, it is my greatest passion. If my kids want to share in it so be it. Note, both kids have the harness, quality helmets, jackets, boots and gloves. Short of bubble wrap, they are as safe as can be. You have to actually live to enjoy life. I know this is one of "those" topics where everyone has an opinion and some will think I shouldn't take them. I can guarantee if you leave them home until their teens, they won't want to go with you then. I ride with my 63 year old father, and I can see doing it with my kids when I'm 60. We also ride in the woods, they can't wait to do the Algonquin two day, the Soogy Boot, or the Calabogie boogie.

I would like to vote this the most useless thread of the century.
What kind of person would not only put one kid at risk on his motorcycle, but put two kids at risk?
Don't get me wrong. My boys were on my bike as soon as they could touch the pegs.
Even the thought of putting two kids on your bike, shows a complete disregard for the safety of children.
Then going through the thought process of figgering out how to do it goes beyond belief.
There are laws to keep people safe.
Now you want to break a law, and put kids at risk. OMG
