How could it get any worse.. (Texting and driving - mini rant)

Mini Rant

Many people complain about elderly people not knowing how to drive properly when it comes to checking blind spots, staying to the left when going slower than traffic flow, etc.
Of course I would come across an elderly person driving a Lexus speeding up to 20km/h+ over to cut me off on the left lane to go 5km/h under the posted limit and continues to weave between the left and right lane. In my mind, I'm going wtf...? Now I got people riding my *** while he continues to ride the line and over it even with vehicles on the lane beside him.
As I pass him approaching the light I'm about to make a left turn at, of course I find him to be an old person texting(or operating his phone one way or another) and driving with no hands. Rage...

I got stuck behind an idiot who was on his cell phone, yesterday, on my way home from work up the York street ramp to The Gardiner. This guy obviously had little enough driving skill to start with, so while on the phone he appeared to be impaired (like with 6 drinks in him). He was wandering all over the lane and kept losing track of what the cars in front of him were doing. I would have hammered it to pass him, using superior acceleration and smaller size to my advantage, but I figured that the safest place to be was behind him.

*EDIT* Oh, and the car was a Mercedes.

What OP does not want you to know is he took out his cell phone to take that picture :P

Helmet cam :P Can't pull out my phone and operate it if I wanted to while riding... I just cropped my helmet out lol

How could it get any worse? Could be an elderly female driving and texting

True...

super frustrating especially when you feel others are in serious danger because of terrible drivers like this. we need a way to call these drivers out without them raging out thinking that they did nothing wrong or that you are the bad guy.

i hate when someone clearly cuts me off and then slows down, and i give them a flash of the high beams and they flip ME off. seriously? thats when i want to run them off the damn road.

If you got the plate number in a picture, too, send the pics to the cops or RoadWatch. At least he might get a letter telling him to behave.

LOL! A guy cut me off, hard, on Yonge northbound at Front. I gave him a brief beep of the horn to let him know he was a moron. He stuck an air horn out the window and blasted me back. What sort of ****** nozzle do you have to be, that it becomes reasonable to have something like that ready?

I like this, I'm going to use it.

I use the "hang up" motion.
If they have their window open, I cruise along beside it in a super low gear so my twobros screams along at 10,000RPM. It's hard to have a conversation at that point. Usually they get the point and put the phone down.

When I ride my bike I can see much more people texting/talking on the phone. When I pass them I usually give them "Call me" sign with my hand.

When stopped I just stare at them until they figure it out, but I like this idea on the move.

This I've done too, and laughed.

Wow. it is shocking that people who tend to get the horn or hand gestures often think that all these other drivers are just huge ***** always being so aggresive and honking all the time, so for their own safety and righteousness, they carry an air horn.
i think we need some serious education. we need something like heritage moments to educate people on etiquette and convention and just common decency on the roads. i am always so impressed when riding or driving in other countries how people just do it better than we do as a whole.

I've done this before, and the lady on the phone started yelling at me telling me to mind my own business.
I then said "You're driving like an idiot!".
She responds by saying "You're driving like an idiot!". (Guess she couldn't think of a comeback as I doubt she even saw us cause we were a couple cars behind)
I laugh in her face and said "Are you blind? I'm not even driving!" (passenger) -> She sped away.

She really was driving like an idiot though... Cutting traffic closely non stop and hammering her brakes hard after cutting someone cause the person in front of the people that she cut wasn't very far away.

This is on Ruthorford Rd right outside Vaughan Mills btw.

In case anyone questions what happened:

Im all for the fine to be caught with a phone in your hand should be $500.

If it isn't enforced, as it currently isn't and as I predicted when the bill was announced, it's meaningless.
