Helmets

Lol! Stickers come off at anytime!
Read the user manual that came with the helmet, see if it says anything about stickers.

I believe he was saying that breathing keeps us alive, not co2. He even goes as far as to specify that we EXHALE it. His science seems to be better than your reading comprehension.

Ummm...... where did you learn science? If C02 kept us alive, we wouldn't be exhaling it, would we?

Go sniff some straight C02 and let me know what happens.....

Re: Carbon Fibre being toxic. There was a document from Two Brothers on how to cut their CF pipes shorter to remove a damaged area, etc. There was a huge toxic warning about the Carbon Fibre "dust" (from cutting it). I tried to find the link but I couldn't. I guess if you're cutting it (i.e. exhaust, etc.) then wear a good mask :)

its not the carbon fibre it's the dust. Any fine particulate is bad for your lungs, some are worse than others.

Yep. Fibreglass and kevlar are equally not good. These fibres stick to the lung tissue and cannot be gotten out, and they don't decompose over time, like wood dust does. Therefore = VERY BAD to breath in. So, anyone working with this stuff and not wearing respiratory protection is a fool (or working in third world conditions with no options). BUT, that has nothing to do with buying something made of it. Not buying something made of carbon fibre because you think its toxic is equally foolish.

I think his point was that CO2 doesn't kill us, not that it keeps us alive. Air is comprised of about .1% CO2. You can sniff straight CO2 all day if you want to, so long as you are pausing every couple of minutes to breath some air. CO on the other hand is very toxic. Small amounts will incapacitate and soon kill you. It seriously interferes with the ability of your blood to carry O2. You essentially suffocate, even in an oxygen rich environment. CO poisoning is very serious stuff. If you can't get into a hyperbaric chamber with oxygen therapy very quickly, your outcome is not good and you may very well be better off dead than with the resulting brain damage.

As far as the helmet goes, it looks pretty good. I'm interested in the quality of the lining materials and how well vented it is and how it is for air turbulence.

I can't say how well vented it is, as I didn't ride with it on. Regarding turbulance, however, the guy at two wheel said there's a noticeable amount of lift after 240km/h. So, it may not be the best track helmet, but more than enough on the street. He could have been full of $#!T, but, he was/is quite well versed with helmets so I believe him.

I personally don't like that it's just raw carbon, but I haven't found another helmet that I like more in that price range, that fits as well as this does.

did you look into the NEXX brand? Low noise, great fit and super light.

Both my wife and I bought one.

Forgot about this thread. I ended up buying the Kaos helmet and have absolutely no regrets. I can't say how quiet it is as I always ride with earplugs, but it flows a lot of air, is incredibly light, fits like a glove (on my head anyway), and with 2 visors included in the price, I don't think it can be beat. Even when riding in the negatives the visor didn't fog up because of the air flow, did make my face cold though. Still hate the raw carbon look though.
