Anyone recommend a good bait for trapping groundhogs? Preferably something that won't attract skunks ( I hate doing the sheet trick)

Google says:

The most effective baits for trapping groundhogs are fresh, aromatic fruits and vegetables, with cantaloupe being the top choice due to its strong scent. Other effective options include peaches, strawberries, sweet corn, lettuce, string beans, and carrots. Place bait behind the trap trigger plate and create a trail leading inside

Lady groundhog if it’s a male.

Boy groundhog if it’s a female.

Or….to get rid of a pest….one must become the pest…

Anything groundhogs like skunks will like.

A friend was having problems with skunks and them ignoring his bait. Someone from Hydro told him they use Kentucky Fried Chicken in their transformer traps.

He caught them all and I stopped eating KFC because of the thought of eating skunk bait.

Lead poisoning is effective.

"Baited" many a groundhog with .243 winchester. 75 grain Boat-tail hollow points or Hornady V-Max..

They have gotten funny about dusting rodents inside municipal limits . @Gaoler , on the prairies , what sort of distances are you shooting ? Is this like desert snipper shoots ?
