Good deeds while riding

Just being in the right place at the right time with the right equipment.

Dropping my bike off at the shop with a trailer. On my way home via 401 traveling at speed in the middle lane and a few guys in front of me lock up. It's all I can do to follow suit and we're all in a predicament as cars continue at pace to swerve around us (nice!). Turns out a fellow motorcyclist has stalled, and is troubleshooting his no-start predicament on the highway in the middle lane! I helped him onto the shoulder, moved my car and trailed, loaded up his bike and dropped him off at the same garage my bike was at.

One of the most precarious situations I've ever encountered. I figure I saved a life that day while risking mine. I don't know though if he'd still be alive today given his decision-making skills.

He should not be riding, clearly operating on half a brain at best.

Could have been a mechanical failure. I had a 2 stroke that seized up once in a while because a pro mechanic screwed up the oil pump. It took an amateur to find and fix the problem.

And you were diagnosing in the middle of the 401???

helped some ducks/ducklings cross a few times...they were literally creating a roadblock while all the drivers just sat and watched so I rounded em up on my bike and got em going.

saved a turtle...stuck him under my windscreen for 10-15 km til I found a nice pond to put him in.

saved a random trucker getting his **** kicked in by another trucker with a shovel.

yesterday I helped some random old woman in the parking lot after her microwave fell out of the cart and on the ground...there's no way in hell she could have picked it up so I don't even know how she planned on putting it in her car.

Probably a few other not so memorable things.

I have a bad habit of finding riders in ditches, nearly one every year. Most recent was a guy on a 750 virago who ran wide at the bottom of the valley on Dufferin 17/10 Sideroad. Last year it was a couple of guys on an Electra Glide who binned it at Hockley and Airport. Before that, a young guy on a CBR250 buried in the underbrush on 10 sideroad between 4th and 5th, just north of Campbellville. Nobody has been seriously hurt, but I've had to clean out and bandage up some ugly road rash. I've learned that pulling heavy *** bikes up embankments isn't fun, and two skinny dudes and bend forks back into place with a tree. Also showing up late to a wedding with dirt and blood on your hands makes for some awkward conversations.

Last Tuesday the wife and I hit up Muskoka. Five minutes into Southwood Rd I find a guy on a 500 ninja down. He wasn't hurt bad but I spent 2 hours getting his bike in good enough shape to ride home. When I finally got him going, wife and I had to run for home to get the kids.
If anyone knows Chris(20) from Sutton with a red 500 ninja, tell him to give me a shout.

No I was riding along doing everything right and the engine seized up locking the rear wheel without any brake light indicating a stop. Pulling in the clutch let m coast/ walk the bike to one side.

Go back and reread the other post, dude was trying to fix the bike in the middle of the 401.

As in, both feet down, sitting on the seat totally leaning over looking at the side of the engine - like that'll fix it!

Just got back from a ride and came across a snapping turtle in the road. I try and do this when I see them because there are quite a few around here that get ran over.

Is that Number "3" on the turtles back?

Was stuck in traffic on Thursday on Lakeshore in the beaches and saw a car with a flat. Filtered next to the car and told the lady about her tire.

She probably needed to be told.

"Hey - do you have an orange light on your dash?"
"Oh - yes, there is. How did you know?"
...

I was out on a group ride once and saw some debris up ahead. I stuck out my foot a little bit to indicate there was some debris on the road and the rider behind me was able to avoid the debris, likely saving his life. Some months later he was able to save some ducks and turtles and truckers...
