Giovanni Caboto Day Lunch at Vito's Pizzeria 143 Hastings St N, Bancroft, ON
June 24, 2026 1:00 pm
This part of my 2 day trip.
After lunch I will continue on to Maynooth where I will stay at the luxurious Purple Palace (aka the Arlington)
Second day is Siberia Road, Old Barry's Bay Road and home.
All roads paved but yellow lines may be optional.
Meetup along the route or join me for lunch. Please advise if plan to attend.
route maps available in .gpx or .kml
I travel at a moderate pace (80 - 100kph depending on road conditions) and not into the iron but thing.
Join along the route, travel at your own pace or go your own way whenever.

I now have Hepco Becker C-Bow mounts on both bikes.
I like to keep all my needs permanently in my saddle & top bags.
After several hours of packing I find a few things have gone missing over the years
so off to Canadian Tire.

Awesome!! Unfortunately I'm not able to join, which is too bad because Vito's makes a FANTASTIC pizza, one of the best I've had in recent memory! Would also have enjoyed the rip up to Maynooth so I could stop in at Sun Run Cafe and Bakery for a tasty snack ;)

Enjoy your trip!

Giovanni Caboto Day Lunch Update
Wednesday started out clear and about 16 degrees.
There was some high cloud latter in the day so it was comfortable riding with full gear.
Met up with a fellow member of the OGR in Havelock at Tim"s
I took the scenic route from Bath to Havelock so no 401 or 7.
The mapping software I use outputs files to .gpx and the MapsMe I use on my iPad requires .kml.
The previous online converter to .kml would display each section as a different colour so I had to go into text edit and change
the colour to ffff0000 (dark blue).
The new online converter shows all sections as dark blue but I loose all the info on the Point Of Interest pins I drop.
All it shows is a gps coordinate so now I have to edit them in MapeMe so it's no improvement.
A third member of the OGR on his Guzzi 850T joined us for lunch in Brantford at Vito's
Food was good, prices reasonable and great service.
I had lasagna and it was the best I have had in a long time. Much better than NO FRILLS.
After lunch two of us rode the scenic route to Maynooth where I stayed the night at the "Purple Palace" hostel.
I had the room to myself and the price was right but slugging my gear up two flight of narrow steep stairs killed the knees.
I was on the road to Barry's Bay by 7:00 am with overcast skies but the clouds broke up as I traveled East.
Travelling south on Old Barry's Bay Road offered a photo op at the Crooked Slide Park.
The next stop was Shamrock Bakery in Plevna for snacks.
CITY FOLK BEWARE the customer washroom facilities is an outhouse although well cared for and scent free.
I was home by 1:30 long before the showers.
Hopefully Giovanni Caboto Day Lunch 2027 gets more attendants.
