Family friendly vacations.

Age of kids? Sun and fun, we’ve done Riviera de Maya and did some excursions like swim in a Cenotes as well as swim with the dolphins and catarham boat tour taking us to a reef to snorkel etc. Great memories and reasonable cost. Bartered a lot and kids had fun being included in making deals from everything from pictures of the excursions to souvenir purchases.

We also stayed in Canmore AB in May (around Mother’s Day) as a base and had a rental jeep and explored Banff and surrounding areas. Sulpher Mountain, Johnson Canyon, Lussier Natural Hot Springs in BC and we toured up to Jasper etc.

We lucked out with good weather and toured around in the jeep with the roof panels removed and the kids loved it. Wife was less impressed but, had fun because the kids were over joyed. During the drive to Lussier Hot Springs in BC, plenty of wild life such as black bears, mountain goats, Elk.

The hotel had a pool and hot tub and we had a blue tooth speaker with everyone putting songs in queue. It was fun.

We try to do trips outside the normal times like March break. Don’t mind yanking kids from school and having some homework to do on the airplane or downtime at the hotel etc. and it’s simply cheaper and less crowded.

We’ve done Canmore twice. May as well as December. Spending vacation funds in Canada and exploring our own country.

We have also done the DR and it’s great too. Kids love the pool and dancing and the evening shows.

The kids were pre teen to teens so, they were independent and had the ability to entertain themselves without much supervision. They played the ping pong table at night while we were in bed and drank soda and ate pizza.

Have to admit, the wife is the events coordinator and I’m just the fella that is always up to do something and agreeable to the first suggestion.

Isn't that like saying road trips are easy when you pull no driving shifts? :ROFLMAO:

I remember my parents doing the cross Canada tourism stuff when I was really young. Tour guide needed like in Nakker's case, but the memories stayed. So many times in adulthood, especially as a motorcyclist, where conversation will steer to places you've been and I'm truly thankful for having seen and experienced so much. It's really hard as an adult to spend vacations on high stress sight seeing or tourist traps but as a kid, you only remember the good stuff!

No doubt!

We also did a road trip with 3 kids (all boys) from St Catharines to base at Cocagne New Brunswick. Random stops, road snacks, road side stop to strip to our undies and take a dip in the ocean which happened to be warmer than expected!

Kids still talk about it to this day. The kids and I collected Quahaug Clams out of the mud near the cottage we stayed at. Picked up some lobster right off an incoming boat (a friend knew the captain) and kids couldn’t believe we could hold them, see them and then bring them back to the cottage and cook them up! They didn’t find lobster appealing but, once we made some lobster rolls from fresh bread at a local bakery and said friend recipe, they really enjoyed that! And they laughed at me eating our “catch” of clams.

The games we play during the drive, licence plate games etc.

And big fires and lots of laughs.

And we didn’t get to Nova Scotia. Only PEI for a day and a tour of NB, Shediac, Grand Falls, Hopewell Rocks, etc.

Boys really liked Turks and Caicos, the eleventh Province. I think we were at a Beaches all inclusive. What sort of activities is the family into? Scuba diving and snorkeling was big there, as well as food camp. Boys would go to one restaurant, have a meal, and then have a different meal at a second in lieu of dessert, all inclusive.

T&C is ballin' these days.

Not necessarily an all includive but I would suggest going to Greece.
We went last year and traveled around and I am seeing it pop up on my phone everyday now.
It was simply amazing. Not sure if the views were better then the food or the other way around. The combination of the two is was simply amazing.
I would go back anyday.

Good to know - sounds like I'll be getting the best of both worlds on my upcoming Greek cruise.

Never considered a cruise in all honesty.

Listened to a news bit yesterday where due to Cuba being closed, west coast of MX being ‘dangerous’ all the other destinations this season have gone through the roof to meet the demand.

Many more families choosing cruises. May be something to consider.

My parents did a lot of cruising (without us) when we were kids. That was about the same time as The Love Boat was airing, so we had a pretty good idea what it was all about. I always wanted to go on one, but just never got around to it. After getting married, my wife was dead set against cruising, so I never pursued it. Eventually, in 2017 my dad wanted to go on one for his 80th birthday with the whole extended family (daughters-in-law and grandkids), so my wife was sort of forced to join. Turned out she loved it even more than I did and seriously wanted to book another one within a few months of our return.

Got home last night and was hoping for the white stuff to be gone and melted by now 🤦🏻‍♂️

Thankfully the flight left early, and flew faster so we got home an hour earlier than expected.

Thanks for all the recommendations were already talking about where to go next.

We’ve heard that DR isn’t all that inviting to Canadians unless they speak Spanish.

Handful of friends said the staff would literally ignore them and go only toward Spanish / French speaking tourists and ignore the English speakers.

But….could just be the tourists weren’t good to them. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Been twice and that was not my impression.

Went back to Greece for our 25th anni. Rented a scooter and had the best time. Doubt it's cheap though and the flight maybe longer than he wants.

I’m in Key West right now, weather is absolutely beautiful. We walked all through town yesterday meeting people from all over the US. I thought it was really odd that no one mentioned anything about the fact that the country had just entered a war hours earlier.Just another day in the USA.

Key west is so laid back, one of my fav places to go.

I’m in Turks and Caicos maybe tomorrow depending on weather . Did you know as a foreigner if you build a house you pay no property taxes ? And they have wild donkeys everywhere, and my wife loves donkeys . This could get expensive.
