I thought at first that i might be the father of a love child. But she just contacted me out of curiosity. She was a beautiful person. I was a jerk.

My feelings are hurt. Haven't had any friend requests in a long time.
I don't think I have any crossover between GTAM and facebook. My facebook is a picture of me from 18 years ago and kid pics my wife posts. Also use it for informative/funny groups (who knew tinny bashing was a thing and it looks like a lot of fun to put 50+ hp on a tinny?).

I had a FB account it’s been over 10 yrs ago that i have been on it. All of a sudden about a month ago i started getting new friends requests from people I’ve never heard of before.
I just delete it out of my text messages

Have you had a friend request from the Australian Government after FB Un-friended them?

This war between the social media Cartel and Governments are just starting to illustrate the dangers of Uncontrolled Monopolies.

No but I was notified that a meme I shared six or seven months ago had been removed.

Upon reflection it was not PC, being negative towards things made in China.

Apologies to anyone who was or could have been offended.

I do not use Facebook. Out of curiosity I made a facebook account for a kayaking/book club I am part of with a couple of good friends. I did not use the account to friend anyone, nor did I use any real information about anything. It was made under the clubs name, and again everything fake. I looked around for a bit to see how things worked and got bored very fast as I expected. I did not look at it for some months and wanted to check one thing and saw I had a tone of friend requests. All seemed to be from Ethiopians. Now I believe I had my city listed as location, the only real information on it, but that was it. No idea how it tried to connect me with anyone and what criteria it was using.

You found random spammers. Friends of friends with common interests is how it works.

I have a FB friend who constantly posts about restaurants around his place. I don't know if he gets free lunches for his promotion efforts or his only hobby is eating and taking selfies. It gets tiring so sometimes I unfollow him for a while.

My S-I-L was sending me MLM crap and she got unfriended. Persona non grata.

I don't know how FB comes up with suggested friends. I dealt with a guy from a business standpoint and met his daughter once when I dropped some stuff off at his house. We were in the driveway and she came out to tell her dad she was going shopping and left. Then I started seeing her name in my suggested list. She was a third my age so no kinky thoughts. I wasn't on FB with her dad.

I probably emailed him some business matter and she probably emailed him as well, the possible connection.

Turn off location permission.

Yup!
I've seen tests where they talk about a certain topic and start getting targeted ads as well.

Wouldn't be surprised if FB does something similar since it has permissions/access to your mic and camera..
Talk about data mining...sheesh!

I like Facebook. I don't give a crap if they use my info and own my pics. It's a great way to stay in touch with everyone. Competitions to grandkids.
Anyone wants to friend me, just shoot me a pm.:)

An aunt was complaining that she never got pictures of her grandchildren.

It used to be double prints for an extra buck or so and the extras went via snail mail to aunts, uncles and grandparents. Who uses film anymore?

They got a tablet or laptop and she was happy.

Does anyone under 30 know how to lick a stamp?

Who licks stamps anymore? They come pre-licked!
As for photos I’m sad because we won’t have that. Take a picture, look at it, and take a million more because it’s so easy. When we were at my parents house before all these hard lockdowns my mom brought out some photo albums. I couldn’t get enough going through them. I had so much hair as a young man!

I’ve got a newer car and a young wife! LoL can’t call her old at 35. That’s a basement sleep for a week. Wouldn’t mind being banished to the cottage though.
