Especially true if leather. I also remember burning my palm on the titanium shift knob of my S2000 once in a while. Taught me to stop holding on to it and just push/pull when shifting. On sunny day's I'd either drive with the top up, especially in stop and go traffic, or have the A/C on. Not sure which is more surreal - A/C with the top down on a hot summer day, or heat with the top down on a cold one.

GT package is basically leather seats, nicer rims and limited slip rear end I think. Just checked and the GT is $42,000 so not bad. They also have a 35th Anniversary edition for 2025 which is ruby red with beige leather interior and additional badging for another $2000 that looks real nice.

68 to 71 for me. 72 was low compression and smogged. You can definitely update with enough budget. As long as it’s chrome bumper and not 73 or younger, I’m in.

Oh! And needs to be manual.

My aunt has a 71 big block and it was a riot. Loved it!

Gas prices and parking space issues mean that hot hatches are plentiful in Europe. The original was the Golf GTI but there have been some absolute nutbar lightweight overpowered small hatchbacks over the years. My wife had a special edition Renault Clio thing that she had on two wheels going round a roundabout in France. I whiteknuckled that ride.

My brother had a beautiful ‘72 454 4 speed. They had dropped the compression that year for emissions but it still went pretty good. All that weight of the big block up front certainly didn’t help handling. I was riding shotgun in it when we raced his buddy’s ‘66 Hemi Satellite on Kingston Rd. We got him by about 1/2 a length between the lights at Brimley and Midland, right near the infamous Have a Nap Motel.

One of the guys from the ST forum (Tom Padden) has a V8 Miata. Lived in California, now lives in Brookeville FL. He has one of the first cars Monster Miata converted to V8 power.

Congrats! And excuse my ignorance with the newer Bavarian stuff. That’s an M2, right? The M4 might be chubbier?

I’ve always loved the smaller M cars. I still remember spotting a 1M near my parents’ place, and every now and then I catch myself daydreaming about picking up a used 2018–2020 M2.
