Daily sports car?

Wonder what we're supposed to do when in 4.5 years, 60% of vehicles in Canada sold new have to be EVs.

I don't currently own a car, but I will probably pick up one of the last ICE, manual-transmission cars "before the Motor Law":

Right now will someday be the "better vanished time". Make keeping your current cars "as new be your dearest dream".

Are they mandating actual electric vehicles, or just zero emissions vehicles? Pretty stupid to lock into a specific technology when alternatives could theoretically be developed by then.
Be developed and commercially available at scale in the next 4 years? Also when has a politician ever cared about reality, practicality or cost. The government is strictly on a greenwashing and slush fund program. They have little interest in any positive change. Regardless of the party in power, expect a punt close to the deadline as enforcing it would be an economic disaster.

2030 is 60% zero-emission. 2035 is 100% zero-emission.

FYI, zero-emission is a disinformation tactic. There's no such thing.

It's almost Fall specials time. What are people choosing in the $50k used market?
$50k?

-Last gen m2 competition
-Ftype R

Then the usual smorgasbord of older Porsche Boxsters and Caymans

I'd probably opt for a GR86/BRZ for a fun 2nd car though.

Domestic is normally low on my list but a gt350 with the voodoo can be within striking distance of your budget.
Wat. What year gt350?

The last one has engines notorious for grenading out of nowhere.

Damn auto correct...

Though I'd opt for a manual tranny. Those are as rare as hens teeth.

f I was looking at another inexpensive sports car, I'd go for a Mini-stock then go racing! Any normally aspirated 4-cyl will do, spend $2-3K on the car and another $3K on a cage and seat. Race day fees for a few heats and a main event are about $100, compared to $400 for a track day in your street car.

Plus, you're racing - not playing with yourself.

Like bikes, you are probably ahead buying an existing race car.

Sadly sunset speedway in barrie is closing in a few weeks. Hopefully someone else revives it and it isn't lost forever.

I hope it doesn't close. I remember when Pinecrest Speedway closed in '76 I was just a kid, but my dad loved taking me to Saturday night races. It got me interested in racing.

I agree, buy an existing, well set up race car. Or one already done up for stock class Auto X or slalom events if you want it street legal. You'll save time and money in the long run.
As for track days vs. racing I left the Ducati Owners Club because some members (including executive) had spent HUGE $$'s on turning their street bikes into track day weapons and decided to stop doing rallies and road rides. Either I was on board with that or I could leave.
Now I see people with huge budgets and set ups better than many race teams just so they can play at "racing"! Yes it is their money and they have fun doing it but we who have been or are racers know the difference. (Sorry, I'll get off my soap box now.)

I have a real nice 2004, low mileage Z4. If I was looking for an affordable classic sports car it would be a Z3 all day long. It’s a classic 2 seater that will hold its value or maybe even appreciate. The Mazda MX-5 is also a great car, probably fewer problems than the BMW but a nice Z3 is not as common and has a little more class. There still some low mileage , original owner examples out there but they’re harder to find.

Looking to replace the F-Type already?
Another year still..at least.

Since I discovered a passion for murdering decent roads in the US id like to go with something a bit lighter, or a mid engine setup.
