Cops at the Forks yesterday...

I was just riding with a buddy who's started recently and I was expecting cops....but not at the absolute slowest part of the road! What's the point of being there? Not like you can rip through that 180 turn at some ridiculous speed...or can you? I would've figured OPP would have set up somewhere near the more winding turns to catch people.

You would be surprised at how stupid some people are.
They probably werent doing radar, They were looking for people racing, loud exhausts and just plain hooligan riding and that corner I would assume is where majority of accidents are.

Hopefully they were looking for people crossing the centre line as well as people parking and gawking at the leaves

My guess is you missed seeing the other(s) that were probably set up somewhere along the road as well...
The easiest, and safest, place on the forks to catch someone who decides to run from them would probably be in the hairpin. People would also be going slow enough through there that one could get a real good look at the vehicles, operators, plates, stickers, etc....

There are not many spots along the road for OPP to safely stop and work traffic enforcement - keeping themselves, the public and the traffic all safe and moving.

They're likely there simply to be a presence - not necessarily with the express purpose of writing tickets.

Voted as the spot most likely to see stupid, 747 times running.

Isn't that where all the trucks and buses get trapped?

at the forks next day, sept 23 and run into a ride stop at 330pm go figure. lol
both cars n bikes all stoped.

When will retards learn not to bother with the forks??? It suuuuccccccccckkkkssssssssss

I gotta agree with STB a few corners 3-5 mins worth with traffic and popo not my idea of a ride.Way way over rated

I live 15 min away and it's a decent get-out-of-the-office-for-an-hour ride when combined with a few other roads in the area.

Ya i agree and think it's highly overrated but we had another route planned and rain started. So on the way south I figure I'd show my buddy as he's never been. Hockley was fun though but rain again midway. Ah well hopefully the Fall will be warmer and drier than average as predicted.

last i went the roads were not swept with lots of debris along the edges preventing any spirited rides.

could a round stick be enough to have ur rear kick out on a lean and present disaster

OP. What part of the road do you consider the slowest part?
Maybe that's the fastest part for the rest of us???

This. 5 min long road packed full of bikes and people are amazed that with a speed limit of 50 that there's cops there. Can't imagine why.

It was at the 180deg hairpin going uphill. I've nowhere near the skills required to take that corner fast. OPP was right at the apex.

Place def is way too hyped up unless you live in the area.
