Hold on now, if you own firearms? ... or if you own assault rifles and hand guns?

If you own hand guns and assault rifles, you probably want to vote Republican.

The hand-guns part is also iffy, are .22 target bolt action pistols going to be included? AR15's the writing is probably on the wall because they are already part of the class of restricted rifles and the name has some political capital. Good luck with defining an "assault weapon" though unless it's going to be semi-automatic by calibre. There's a ton of rifles I can go and get that are non restricted that "look" like military weapons simply because it's 2019 and not everything needs a wooden stock...besides....the modern materials are green...they don't entail chopping trees down.

Whatever happens it won't be simple. I still think Canadian gun laws are sensible (with a few outliers) and for the most part they work.

Well that's just idiotic.
Now, see this is what they should have done in the first place, instead of Scheer...

Scheer campaign faces leadership speculation as election day nears | The Star

MacKay or Ambrose would have crushed Trudeau, likely a landslide.... Kenney is just another so-con train wreck, exactly the same problem as Scheer...
Isn't the Star amazing? They will be getting into 6th gear this week, standard operating procedure for them to start influencing the public. If you look at the last 100 elections, the Star runs a 'rolling thunder' campaign trying to sew doubt and speculation using meaningless and not-news (fake news?) op-eds and editorials. They are surely planned, the'll roll one every day for the next 2 weeks.

When my dad got his licence he went hunting for an AK47, it's banned. After a few weeks of hunting he discovered the Czech version is legal,it's 99% the same weapon lol. Every time he shows up at the range he gets a billion questions about how did he import an AK47.

Good o'l "Liberals will do anything to stay in power?"

:geek:

Over the past little while I've seen quite a bit of the quagmire that is the firearms classification system. I can go out and buy a GM6 Lynx as a non restricted weapon. That's a .50 BMG calibre semi auto bullpup. It's designed to disable big things, like trucks etc. It looks like a hoot to shoot actually but that's besides the point. The attraction of the AR15 is the modularity and the ability to easily customize your own rifle.

My own feelings are that regardless of whatever has been said the actual costs involved in any buy back/ban are going to prove to be more than can be tolerated so they will do the minimum possible to appease the voters who voted for this issue. My feeling is that ARs will be moved to "prohibited". I'm hoping they leave pistol calibre carbines alone as I want one of those though.

Edit: Your dad's rifle is probably on this list... Non-Restricted Firearms : Tactical Imports Corp.

Scheer is an idiot for saying in public he wont commit to staying in the pot game, the financial cost of existing that industry for the government will be a Federal version of an Ontario gas plant back out. Millions and millions, followed by millions. Does nobody prep these knuckle heads on WTF moments?

The gun bans, restricted lists , complete bans are all pretty much worthless. Its pandering for votes , because nobody likes gun violence. However its been printed here a zillion times, gun thieves aren't legal registered users, gang members don't register guns or follow the carry rules. Kicking random licensed owners is easy picking. ( who the F needs a Kalishnokov?) ( I get wants , but who needs?)

Wonderful! a leader who can not commit ?

The last time a Canadian political leader was generally 'liked' by the constituents was _______
Obama for PM :) Waive the citizenship requirement. At least he seems like a decent human being that genuinely tries and isn't just in it for the power (and associated money). That's better in every measure than most of our current candidates (and definitely miles ahead of the candidates with a chance of winning).

Only thing I hope out of this election is a minority. Don't care which variety.
Although I reasonably agree with you, I find minority goverments get pretty much nothing accomplished. We may be better off if a minority government was just replaced with "status quo maintained for the next four years, all MP's are hereby terminated". It would get the same amount done and save a ton of money and pointless bickering and posturing.

On pot... Good or bad depends on your point of view of course.

Scheer won't commit to keeping cannabis legal if Tories form government
A couple of things... once the Genie is out of the bottle, good luck stuffing him back in.

That article is old, it's pre-legalization. If you check Sheer's position it's aligned with the laws, he's not planning a roll back on legalization although he is looking at pardons for those convicted of criminal offences that are legal today.

My biggest only issue with Minority gov't is the non-confidence vote ******** and calling a snap election within a year or so. Wasted money for nothing more than grandstanding ********.
Can't remember which party called the non-confidence vote years ago, I think it was against Wynne's Liberals, and then the Province gave a massive majority to the Liberals as punishment to the others.

I'm assuming you mean the Vz. 58, which loosely resembles the AK47, but is a very different gun. I've shot one, It's a neat rifle, but it's no AK (shares no parts, different internal design, the only thing the same is the round it uses)

Field Test: vz.58 vs. AK-47

Just the start, it will be magazine fed semi automatics and handguns at first.

There are no assault rifles by definition in canada that are not already prohibited.

And if you are happy with the confiscation of legally owned property then socialist is your vote.

If common sense prevails I expect it would start with new sales and imports not what is out there now.
& I could be wrong but I don't think the jack boots will come kicking down doors looking for your collection.

Nope, 2 year grace period to turn them in, if you don't then you are a criminal, subject to black pajama squad visit.
