Hi,
I live in Milton and I bought a 2000 Kawasaki ZRX in the fall and managed a few rides before freezing. I'm not exactly a newbee, having ridden lots of dirt and street bikes in my teens and twenties, but that was awhile ago and it was exciting and nervous on the new bike. I've signed up fo the "Total Control Level 1" day course at the Herschey Centre, hopefully that will help me regain some confidence in the corners. I'm also planning a trip to the west coast in the summer, on the ZRX. I rode a Kawasaki Z1 from Ontario to BC about 35 years ago, but my body is a little different now!
This is a great site and I hope to learn lots on it!

So is that what they mean by re-cycling? :D

Congrats on the bike and welcome to GTAM.

Welcome to the forum!!

Welcome and congratulations

Wow its like we are brothers from different mothers. I too returned to riding after a similar break and was drawn to the Eddie Lawson replica I had been drooling over. I rode a Kawi Z1-R prior to the REX, The ZRX is an amazing bike to ride or just to sit and look at.

Milton must be the ZRX center of Canada. There are a few great folks in Milton with Rexes. I'd suggest doing a search on ZRXOA although the upgrades can empty your wallet pretty quick.. enjoy .. I'm jealous

I put 80k on my Rex after I switched out the stock seat for a Corbin. The upright seating position is perfect for touring in my opinion.

I do hope you bought one of the fast green ones and not one of the pretty but slow blue ones. Please post a pick.

My ZRX was originally red but was painted flat black. I know what you mean about sitting back and looking at the ZRX! It's plenty fast enough for me. I can't say much about the handling until I regain the confidence to push it in the corners. You can see the bike at .. http://www.flickr.com/photos/52755149@N07/sets/72157627963004958/with/6367169247/
Where did you buy the Corbin? What bike do you have now? My son just accepted a summer co-op position in California, so I'll be visiting him this summer, hopefully on the REX.

Nice clean looking bike. Its an 1100 with a 1200 swing arm and looks like it might have ohlin rear shocks. Its rare to see black ohlins so hopefully its not just a sticker over the stock shocks ;). The full muzzy is really nice too. I suspect given other upgrades such as the steering damper and the tail section clean up the previous owner was likely a member of ZRXOA.

I picked up my corbin with a removable backrest off that site's parts section. I think it was $300US complete and it was perfect.

My first suggestion to you is always carry a plate for your kickstand. The bike is very heavy and the small footprint of the sidestand will plug through asphalt in minutes resulting in a dropped bike. Do yourself a favor and always use one even in cooler weather.

I sold mine last spring and bougnt a K1200S. I would have liked to keep both but that was not in the cards.

Enjoy

I like the look of your bike. That said I took the liberty of perusing some of your other pics, if it's your work then great stuff, the bokeh on some the pics is outstanding!
