Auto Dealerships

Seems these thieves are doubling down, just seen a 15 Tacoma on the lot asking price is over 30thou.
I went through that with a Scarborough big box store. They wouldn't budge on their price for a well used Nissan X-Terra so I walked. The sales guy ran out into the parking lot begging me to come back. Nope.

Is it the fault of the dealership? Or the idiots that continue to pay ridiculous pricing?

Sure some people NEED a replacement truck or car, but for the most part we (ie: me) WANT something newer and shinier.

Simple supply and demand.

I spent 6 months looking for my Maverick, my only goal was to trade in the GTI was still under full warranty to get higher dollar. I did it with 3 months to spare.

Dealership dropped their pants on their Maverick, and I have one now.

Vote with your wallet.

Back around 2018 I was looking for a vehicle and I looked into the Tacomas.
At that time, it made no sense to buy one used. They were almost the same price as new.
Those and 4 runners never seem to depreciate for some reason.

Housing Market has left the chat.

They've been gouging since COVID.

I had a 2019 4runner. Sit in the driveway cause nobody would drive it or want to put gas in it

I like that truck, care to report on the ownership experience to date?

I bought a 2024 leftover this spring from Carlee at Bourgois Nissan in Midland and they bent over backwards to accomodate with a great price saving, added to the factory saving. Not what I was expecting from a $tealership.

'Maybe the exception, but when I read stuff like that my first thought is...
He got f***ed. But just doesn't realize it.

I'm sure the dealer did just fine on the deal...

I think the auto makers have learned something from the oil industry when you control the production you create artificial demand and set prices, profit.

My Toyota dealer has been empty ever since pandemic, what cars they have in the showroom (about 4) are said to be all sold. Still I think 6 months to a year to get a new car, still. They certainly are milking this.

It's about to get a whole lot worse.

Didn't they try that before, nothing really happened.
I know the people at ChatGPT are gobbling up a ton of hardware.
Maybe the US should ramp up their plans to bring chip manufacturing home.
