A lot of potholes this year?

Bumping this thread because there are still massive potholes appearing in the city, and we have riders that will be anxious to be getting on the road soon. This is particularly directed at those that have bought their first bike in the off season and will be riding for the first time - it is imperative that you are paying attention to the road, many of these potholes are big enough to potentially throw you off your bike. And with the melt we are having today, some of *those* now just look like harmless puddles.

and leave enough of a gap from the vehicle in front of you to be able to see any of these monsters

Ride a Dual sport and potholes are a non issue.

I am conflicted as to how to respond to this. An extra 2" of front wheel diameter isn't going to do **** when the whole front wheel of your bike still fits neatly into the hole.

I think there is a lot more people smoking pot this year... Hence more pot holes.. Simple theory of supply n demand

Right... I follow your logic

weather is warming up. good news for all riders, but first timers be careful.

It's hard to establish how much worse it is, but the route I am doing daily twice has at least 300% more potholes and they are deeper and larger on average as fas as I can say. There's also a lot of asphalt waving .... it feels like they laid out the road in 30 metres long sections and now the seems are coming up. I would think that that it will take them a whole summer to fix, side roads might even get skipped this year ....

The winter has been worse than usual, plus a lot more salt was used.

+ really big swings in thaw-freeze cycles.
Close to 10*c becoming -20*c overnight... hold on to your saddle cowboy/cowgirl.

pfft just let people go have fun and dent their rims and possibly crash and for those few hours of possible fun they might end up waiting months for parts to fix their bike after it hits the ground or worse wait months while their broken bones mend.

The buses are doing a damn good job adding to the potholes diameter and depth.
Just my observations, carry on.

I just hit a pothole, nearly ripped the axle off my car, yay

Front wheels will be in high demand...

Front wheels will be in high demand...

That's why I bought them by the truck load in winterrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I bought up the fork legs too and rotors.
Oh damn, steering head bearings and fork seals.

start the bidding $399 for bare front rim but buy it now and you will get black paint
