I haven't made a formal list, but one thing I've started doing is to look at each car and ask: "What might they do if I wasn't here?".
By assuming that I'm invisible, I find I'm much more conservative at intersections or when passing.
I went from my little CBR with a fairing to a DRZ400 supermoto where I was more exposed. I was convinced something was wrong with the bike—it felt so unstable. I went for a few long highway rides and got used to it after a while. I think it was just learning to relax and let the bike do it's...
This was very helpful in helping me select a helmet for my elongated melon...

I'm not sure if they lost money on my initial order, but I'm sure they're making it up on my following orders. (I bought a bunch of stuff at 20%—I didn't have time to search all the stuff I wanted when the 50% sale was on.) Definitely happy so far.

Any chain or other theft deterrent can be defeated. My strategy would be to merely make my bike harder to steal than the other bikes in the garage. The towing chain, or even a steel cable should suffice. It would only add a minute to the time necessary to throw your bike in the back of a van...
The 300 seems quite expensive compared to a 250. If you have the money, you could always spend a bit more and get one of the new Honda 500's. I think they'd still qualify as a reasonable bike for a new rider.
The new bills seem very similar to the ones I used in Australia and New Zealand. I wonder if they made the new canadian bills different enough to be causing problems. My first impression of the plastic bills down south was: "we need these in Canada."
