Need a route suggestion

Hello everyone,

So I take possesion of my Motorcycle Monday April 22... Do rider training with learningcurves the weekend before. Now I'm looking for advice of people that know the roads around the route I want to take...

Here is the distance I need to cover:

https://www.google.ca/maps?saddr=Sn...;FaMknQIdOvND-w&mra=dme&mrsp=1&sz=13&t=m&z=13

Now, does anyone know the best way to get from point A to B? Being a newer rider I want to stick to the least busiest roads. I don't really care if it is going to take me twice as long to get home if I have to make a lot of stops for stop signs or lights. My girlfriend is coming with me and going to drive behind me to keep traffic clear behind me. Obviously, no highways.

Thanks so much..

Can't help with route but feel compelled to applaud you for even attempting this. If you survive please post a ride report.

If you don't want busy roads stay off the 404 or other highways. Cruise the city streets and be careful is all.

+1

Been doing that for years. So far so good. Knock wood. Love this forum, brothers and sister lending a helping hand:)

What time of day are you riding? During the late afternoon, both Kennedy and Warden northbound get slow right up to the 401. So, you'd get some practice with the clutch in that stretch of stop and go.

I would take Kennedy up to McNicoll, then McNicoll west to Warden. Take Warden north (do this to avoid the crappy traffic and drivers around Pacific Mall at Steeles and Kennedy) all the way to 16th. From there, it looks like you've got the rest.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions.

I plan on going around 11am to try and avoid afternoon traffic.

At that time of day, the traffic around Pacific Mall isn't bad, so Kennedy would be reasonably clear all the way up to 16.

I don't know, you might be better off taking the highway this way you're not stuck in stop and go traffic. You're picking up a new bike so the clutch might be stiff, you might not be able to feel your left/right hand after all of this. Try and get someone to go along with you.

Can't get my m2 til may 13 so its out of the question

kennedy north to 16th,head west from there, the easy route is the simple route, imo.

+1, kennedy is generally not busy except rush hour time.

and 16th is better than hwy7 because theres a section of hwy7 where its 80km/hr but most cars will go 100 at least.
also on hwy7 theres lots of construction, so torn up roads with pot holes
so 16th if your a new rider is definitely safer

My route would be down bayview and then through york mills... simple

Well then I would suggest go north on Kennedy and take McNicoll then go north on Yonge. McNicoll is not busy and has a couple of minor twisties for you to practice on ;)

Lawrence or York Mills to Don Mills. I used to commute on Don Mills when I had my M1 :)

Don't sweat it if you miss a turn. You probably will if it's your first time in traffic. All part of the adventure.

I used to take this route years ago when I rode a 150 scooter. Brimley north to 14th (where it ends), 14th to Kennedy, Kennedy to 16th and then across. I like Brimley because it doesn't have a 401 ramp so the cagers aren't in a highway frame of mind.

Otherwise keep it simple and take Kennedy all the way to 16th. Either way ride safe. Let us know how it goes.

Get to Warden or Kennedy
Head North to 16th - go left ...KISS.

Relax - no white knuckles and stay slight to the right in the curb lane to preserve your space...go with the traffic flow.
Yeah ride report.....:D
