I met one, in 1983, when I was working at the airport. He was a high level private investigator. The only one that I've ever heard of.
 
The newscasters and lawyer are actually under-selling this issue. Not only does it no fall under plain sight exceptions for search, but it's also a Federal crime in the US to open the mailbox of someone else and examine the mail. It's also a Federal crime for non postal persons to leave messages/flyers in someone's mailbox. Little known facts.

Remember way back; there was a Toronto Councillor who owned a bakery (Norm something) who shot someone during a robbery. It was revealed that he was permitted to carry a concealed pistol.
 
It may not exactly be a major blow against the smuggling of guns used in crime, but an operational 9mm Sten could be pretty damned dangerous. the AR-15 has been banned. It's the wrong side to know if it's fully auto as the selector is on the left side, and an ambidextrous safety hasn't been installed. I don't recognize the part directly below the AR, but it doesn't look like an auto sear. As to the rest it's still illegal importation of firearms, and pistol purchases have been blocked for quite a while now. it appears to be a good arrest, if not something that will delay anyone in Toronto who is planning a drive-by.

Somehow i doubt that that farmer is part of the pipeline that supplies guns to gangs.
If that was the case it likely go like this.
The AR would be OK but the rest just isn't their jam.
 
I wonder how many of these photo spreads and articles are just part of a psy-op to convince the public of something...
Several years ago and aquantance of mine got "busted"...
His landlord let someone in to do some kind of inspection when he wasn't home.
They noticed a few things in the home that indicated there were likely firearms somewhere...
Cops called, raid ensued, arrested, gun collection seized...
The "incident" splashed on the local news same day.... complete with photo spread...

In the end... No charges, all firearms returned.
Every single gun was legal and where required, properly registered.

Of course THAT was never publicized.
