Reminds of passing a pick-up in rural Arizona in the early 80`s on my rented R65. Two dudes with two rifles in the rack behind their heads, visible thru the cab window. Probably with two holstered revolvers too.

I met one, in 1983, when I was working at the airport. He was a high level private investigator. The only one that I've ever heard of.

The newscasters and lawyer are actually under-selling this issue. Not only does it no fall under plain sight exceptions for search, but it's also a Federal crime in the US to open the mailbox of someone else and examine the mail. It's also a Federal crime for non postal persons to leave messages/flyers in someone's mailbox. Little known facts.
Remember way back; there was a Toronto Councillor who owned a bakery (Norm something) who shot someone during a robbery. It was revealed that he was permitted to carry a concealed pistol.
A prime example of a politician using connections to obtain something that he didn't merit having, just because he could.
