Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Is there ever a point at which plugging in and unplugging your car becomes too much and you take the ice car for convenience?

p.s. Canadian Tire said they didn’t have rims to fit mine. It also doesn’t show my make/model in their system. I think it shows the U.S. non PHEV model, which is different, instead.

Going to see if the dealer can get decent looking rims and non Japanese tires. Otherwise, I’ll have to settle for the Yokohamas on steelies, and paint them black every Spring.
I fuel the ice vehicle whereas the PHEV gets plugged and unplugged by my wife all the time.

I think EVs are more practical charging at home and knowing the cost of charge over watching the price at the pump and being strategic at when to fill up to save a buck to two depending on reports of when the price will increase or drop x cents the next day etc.

The only draw back would be longer road trips and planning charge spots/timing and the cost to change but, even then still less of a concern than the price of petro at the enroute.

I've forgotten to plug in at night 3 times over the last year and a half. Never left myself without enough juice to get to work the next day though. Since I keep the vehicle at 80% charge I'm only usually down to 70% or so. Maybe 60% in the winter.

It's practically muscle memory at this point. Still easier than remembering to stop for gas imo and I don't have to deal with Costco savages.

I went to the rthibert wheel catalogue, they are pretty definitive for fitment specs. It looks like X48566 is a fit for the PHEV. Cross-referencing that, Nissan and Infiniti also uses the same hub specs so a 17" option X47561 may also be available if the clearances are good.

Alloys may be a stronger, higher QC option. I've heard about steel wheels having runout and tolerance issues although it's never happened to me.

In nasty weather with an ICE car needing fuel and full of passenegers, the driver gets out into the cold or wet for four or five minutes and the drive continues. With an EV the driver plugs in and goes back inside for four or five times longer but is warm and dry, chatting with the gang.

A Tesla will even tell you jokes or stories if you want.

I have so much mobile data now that watching Netflix while waiting would not be an issue.

We are considering moving on from our Lexus and I'm looking at all the electric offerings. Is anyone actually saving any money not paying for fuel? Taking into account the extra cost of these cars over ice?
Convince me.

What extra costs? Fuel is free with any of the charger rebate programs and the vehicles are pretty close in price. We save about 1200 a month in gas right now. Take your fuel and oil change costs reduce them to zero and see how the math looks. If you are going to change vehicles anyways it is a no brainer. Having a full tank every morning and never going to a gas station is super nice as well. Plug in when you get home and unplug when you leave probably 15 second a day.

We're low mileage drivers so gas is about $100 a month. The battery cost math doesn't work for us. I also wonder where the manufacturers will get residual income. Brakes and tires? Software subscriptions?

When available, an ice car is cheaper than a hybrid. That takes from any savings. At present we spend about $4000 a year on gas. Retiring soon so that will drop.

Hybrid doesn't make sense too many extra parts for minimal savings one or the other. On a ev does the 4500 a year fuel and maintenance savings make it cheaper its possibly 25000 savings over 5 years for you? EV is a way better driving experience to me much quieter and quicker more relaxed when you get there.
