We Know you Ride, But do you Shoot?

I am better with a bow. Had some fun shooting 3d deer targets this afternoon, 8 for 10 kill shots at 30 yards.

I took up barebow a couple of years ago... 'Even took a lesson.
'Shooting a 35-40lb set up a buddy who's way more into archery put together for me... He's pretty serious about it, I'm not.
It's a thing I do for a bit of fun in the winter...

My draw weight is 50lbs. It’s not easy, but that’s what you need for larger game.

My son is an experienced bow hunter, he pulls 65lbs and has never missed on a kill shot. Bears, caribou, moose… and when he goes to my place in Florida, wild boar.

New glass... gophers don't stand a chance (once I learn MRAD... I've always been a MilDot guy)

Always a bunch of online bitching about Vortex but all that i have had is good experience with their glass.
Have had sights, binoculars and a spotter all good.

They are very decent scopes for what they cost.. decent glass, decent features, decent quality. They're no Swarovski, but I ain't spending that kind of cake on a scope for shootin' gophers...
Vortex has a reasonably local/accessable presence....They have an office in Guelph.
'Buddy of mine once dropped his spotting scope onto a concrete floor and ruined it...
We drove up to the Vortex office, turned in the busted scope... They looked at it and when they determined it wasn't worth fixing they just gave him a new one.

I imported a few nice scopes from the UK. At the time the savings were pretty good and there was minimal paperwork. On one purchase they accidentally sent me a more expensive version of the scope I was looking at and when I contacted them they said to just keep it.

These were Athlon scopes which are not top tier but pretty comparable to the higher lines in the Vortex range.

Edit: I also bought a nice Athlon Midas Tac 6-24x50 scope from Jerry at Mystic Precision in Canada. He’s a great guy to deal with. That’s a really nice scope.

'Another recent acquisition... A 12" TM22

I have an 18" as well, but it's kinda long for what I'm doing... IPSC "mini-rifle".
the 12" is way handier in tighter quarters, 'getting around barricades etc...
The 18" came with a few issues... Wouldn't reliably extract, the chamber was a bit tight/short so I reamed it and replaced the extractors which has seemed to fix everything.

This 12" has run through about 500 rnds in the last couple of months with ZERO problems...
I added an enlarged mag release button and a CNC machined aluminum magwell... The A2 flash hider came off of one of my "banned" ARs
Is it a little bit ghey to be shootin' a .22 in IPSC...?
Yes... But It's fun :)

it was closet cleanout day , rehomed a Browning BT99 34" trap gun and a Browning sporting clays special with a full Briley tube set , 20/28/410 in a Briley case that was never going to be used . I shoot skeet poorly enough without Fing about with 410... replaced those two with a Browning Ultra XS skeet in 20g. Nice gun , invector chokes . I'll probably add 7 or 8 oz of lead to the stock to suck up some rercoil , but looking forward to missing some more targets with this nice looking gun .

I shot a club level IPSC pistol match on Tuesday, 4 rounds of trap on Wednesday, a level2 IPSC match today and will shoot another IPSC L2 on Sunday...:)

Its nice not having to go to work anymore.

Unlike some of my neighbours who always state it could be worse instead of looking that it can be better, I thought I was doing OK with a .48 MOA at 100 yards and 0.26 MOA if I left that 5th shot out that I dropped on that target post # 3724.

Well it looks like most of us or in fact all of us are in Sandbox 101 and should look at Erik Cortina's shooting at 1000 yards. I am impressed with his shooting skills and it is something to aim towards.

.48 and .26 with what..?

Don't feel bad... there are so many variables to factor in you'll drive yourself insane trying to cancel them all out in order to achieve "perfect" accuracy.

My TIKKA T3x ACE TARGET in .223 Cal. And at 100 yards outdoors, that is nothing to cheer about. Yes I know TIKKA guarantees 5 shots into 1 MOA or less at 100 meters (109 yards).

I am hoping to improve. This rifle is 100% stock, so I might look at maybe a barrel tuner, but it could be the factory Match cartridges. or more likely the shooter. I might get into loading my own and checking consistency with a Garmin Xero.
