What did you do in your garage today..?

Finally got around to putting the main stand on the ATAS, and the springs are tough fukkers. My usual method of puller, screwdriver was impossible. I found a video which used a ratchet strap, and this finally workd. Still was a PITA, and the bike kept moving, but it eventually worked!
A Hindle full exhaust system I bought some years ago came with this awesome welded steel hook thingy for installing the springs. I used it all kinds of spring pulling for years, then I broke it I think using it trying to remove some crusty springs off a drum brake. Oops

The "problem" is that regular off the shelf "green" coolant today is different than it was 20 years ago. Today, you can put Prestone "All Vehicles" coolant into pretty much anything. I happily use it in my bikes.

Prestone isn't doing anything for their credibility when they claim their "All-Vehicle: Universal" coolant is for all vehicles, while at the same time selling vehicle-specific coolant (Asian, American, European). So which is it???

All-Vehicle: Universal
"Prestone® MAX antifreeze + coolant is GUARANTEED to provide MAXIMUM ENGINE PROTECTION in all Vehicle Makes, Models & Years."

European (Blue)
"Prestone® MAX antifreeze + coolant uses Advanced Original Equipment Technology to provide MAXIMUM ENGINE PROTECTION in European vehicles requiring Blue (G48) or Green (G64) antifreeze + coolant, guaranteed."

European (Pink)
Prestone® MAX antifreeze + coolant uses Advanced Original Equipment Technology to provide MAXIMUM ENGINE PROTECTION in European vehicles requiring Pink antifreeze + coolant, guaranteed.

And so on...

Prestone and Recochem vehicle-specific coolants are all identical except for the colour. That's the only difference

I'm NOT saying that's the only difference in the OEM coolants...

Recommendations on purchasing rotors + pads for a Ford Maverick or Honda Odyssey.

Feeling a rumble from both, and will need to replace the fronts at the very least on both.

Normally I use rockauto. They are much cheaper than buying in Canada (or at least were, not sure if Trump has messed anything up). 99% of the time, no issues. My last order had issues and they were annoying to deal with. I ordered rotors that they said fit my wifes car. They were 1.5" too small. Rockautos solution was it wasn't their fault so they would refund half. F that nonsense, you say they fit, that is on you or your supplier. They let me return them (they paid shipping) and I got a refund. When I looked months later, rotors that didn't fit were still listed for that car.

Rock Auto is supposed to include any taxes/duties, so the price you see is the price you pay, unless something has changed.

If I can't wait for delivery, or shipping brings the price too high, my go-to is Wrench Monkey by the airport.

You can also try PartsAvatar.

More work on the F’d150. Noticed the dodyline on the box was drooping near the cab. Got under with a hammer and found 3 bed supports totally rotted out.

Off with the bed.

Decided to use my needle scaler to clean up the frame. After a good pressure wash and scaling, I painted the frame up with rust converter. As I finished a torrential rain appeared suddenly - wiped out 3 hrs of work and $50 of product.

To make matters worse, 2 hours of mig welding on the box in a t-shirt gave me a nice sunburn.

if you're in ontario then bestway auto parts if you need it asap. rock auto for pricing and reasonable shipping time. Just curious which maverick do you have and how's it running so far?
I like it. Have had it for 17 months about 52k in that time and it’s great.

You can tell the cheap and where Ford cut corners but as a daily / road tripper it’s great. I’ve got the ecoboost AWD with 4K tow packages. 2023 xlt.
