I have a Mach-e, 99% charging done at home. I set up the Ford plug and charge and it works very well. Used it at compatible Tesla superchargers. Worked great ( adapter required, which was supplied with the car) Just plug in, charging starts and when finished billed to the CC on my Ford account.
My only gripe with public charging is the costing models, it should be consistent across all chargers, ie by the KhW, not by time on the charger. Tesla chargers are the best in my opinion, though the short cords are somwhat problematic for my car.

The pay by kwh issue was regulation. It was apparently illegal for some dumb reason. I think that has been resolved now.

I have a 2023 Model Y RWD (pre- Juniper). The Model 3 is at a very good price.

Take it for a longish test ride. I was able to test ride overnight- mainly to see if it would fit in my cramped townhouse garage), and make your decision based on that. Not having to haggle at a dealership was a welcome change in experience. I still have not taken it for servicing yet- so not sure how the service experience would be.

i don't know how well competitor's version of FSD or Autopilot works. But the free autopilot is good for rush hour highway driving, really takes the stress out. (although i think Tesla might have removed free Autosteer now)

I would not give the crazies a second thought when buying a car. If they are still thinking of Tesla they won't be for long till the next issues pops up that gives them their self righteous boost. I have a 2021 Tesla Y Long Range and absolutely love it. The simplicity of the whole car and no buttons has actually become something I love about the car. So simple, things just work. They are not perfect of course but it is the most enjoyable car I have ever had. Tesla will give out 24hr test drives and would recommend doing that. There is certainly a mind shift that needs to happen. For me it is worth it.... though it helps that work pays for the car which makes owning a Tesla even easier!

We got the first one in March and it is close both should be paid by year end.

I was looking at my neighbours CRV hybrid. Nice car.

If i was to ever make the purchase it would need to be a hybrid

The ev is much less expensive to operate and more reliable. Once you add a gas engine you are comprised with extra weight and complexity and most hybrids won't work at all if one system is broken. Just get the gas one at that point and save money and gain reliability. Ev does it better if you can charge at home it is like have a full tank every morning for almost free. If you are going more than 400 kms that day a fast charge at lunch and ready to carry on.
