Lee Marvin was great in that. I’m not a western guy but that was a good movie, Right up there with “Shane”.

Fantastic cast tho I like Ellen/Eliot better as a cute teen still one of my fav actors.
 
Finished up True Grit….meh. Not the best. Not the worst.

Didn’t know Spielberg was involved along with Coen brothers.
 
If you're Canadian you gotta watch "Going' Down the Road" at least seven times in your life.

Second would be "The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz"

When I found it I got really excited...

What a f***** let down.
Worse than a Halmark movie. Not only was the script/story a cringe.. It seemed like they ran out of money hslf way through production.

The book was part of my grade 11 English curriculum. It was an interesting read. Better than most of the books I was required to read in school.
 
talk about a gathering of fav actors for me including Ken Watanabe, Ellen Page and Michael Caine amongst others.

I will see your Margaret Atwood and raise you Last Of The Curlews. Not all of the books in my Board's curriculum were bangers. Look it up. It's where boredom meets paper and goes to die. By the time gr. 12 came I was sitting at the back of the class reading Heinlein, Wolfe, and moto mags. "What Shakespeare are we doing this year? Hamlet? Good. That's all villany and murdery and machiavellian deceit. I know how to conjugate verbs. Just leave me alone until that's on the plate."

Yeah, we got stuck with "Heart of Darkness" as well. Still didn't bug me as much as being made to read "Ecotopia" in college, for my SciFi English course. "The Chrysalids" was probably the best read I had in high school. Written by John Wyndham, the same guy who wrote "The Day of the Triffids."

Watched the "Dead Like Me: Life After Death" movie, over the weekend. Enjoyed it very much though felt that it did suffer from the lack of Mandy Patinkin and the substitution of Sarah Wynter for Laura Harris for Daisy.

Return of the Native and Who has seen the wind, here. Can a novel where a heath is a character, be fun? No.
I lobbied hard for the Scarlet Pimpernel, but my English teacher pre-decided that it was all plot.
 
Margaret Lawrence's "The Stone Angel" proved to me what BS high-school english class is.
I read the first and last chapters only and managed to ace the class with my BS made up "book report" or whatever assignment I had to write on it.
 
Might have seen it but worth the watch while waiting on World Cup - good reviews
