I haven't noticed this thread until now. Who is GTAM rooting for in 2026?

i will go first- I support Max and its not looking good for 2026. Anyone supporting Mercedes is gonna be happy based on Q1 and Q2

Max is not a happy boy right now.
The cars seem really skittish with the new harvesting/braking systems.

On the positive side- Red Bull Driver 2 made it to Q3 and starts P3. Cant remember the last time this happened

Sergio Perez. Multiple times.
Dani Ric. Multiple times.
Mark Webber. Multiple times.

If I had to root for someone, it'd be for Hamilton to guide Ferrari to a comeback. I am not committing to that

Hamilton can guide his way into a comfy retirement, I do like Leclerc

Pole qualifying time is three and a half seconds off of last year. That is not good IMO.

Seems Merc has quite the advantage right now.

I know this is a contervasioal opinion but I am loving F1 this year. I watched my 1st F1 race in 1977 and I have been watching it ever since, but for the last 2 years it has been terribly boring. I switch to watching the recap and even those were boring at time. I am watching F1 again, It has been exciting with lots of passing. People keep saying that the passing is artificial, so was passing using DRS.

DRS wasn't free though, at least not if you were trying to overtake a peer. All your speed came at the end of the straight, your opponent would defend, and you would have to overtake at the corner. It *was* artificially created passing opportunities and I never really liked it, but it was a bandage to the problem of the cars they had accidentally created which were extremely dependent on clean air.

We will see how the use of "boost" will evolve over the season, I am hoping that it gets better

I really like Hamilton. He is a great driver and a gentleman. Even when his 8th Championship was stolen from him he still went to Verstappen and congratulated him. Great to see him doing well today.

..Tom

I was never a Hamilton fan , but I won’t deny he’s a talent and an excellent sportsman . He showed that today in post race interviews.
Kimi is the real deal .
Sure wouldn’t want to be sitting through the McLaren debriefs .

Loois thinks Merc has resurrected Party Mode. Said there's no way they'd be a 10th or two back in Q1 then suddenly be down 5 to 7ths in Q2 and Q3.
