25'th Anniversary....and no plans. :(

I like the concept. The price is offensive to me. ~3k pp for the train. Add the required flights and hotels at each end and ypu don't get much change back from 10k.
Wow, it sure wasn’t that much when we went. But of course that was more than 20 years ago.

The Rocky Mountaineer is pretty nice level of travel for a North American train , you can take a regular via rail ride and slum it for a lot less . Essentially the same view , but lesser food and cheaper drinks .

I believe it’s called the Black Bull or something?
I played a gig there in a previous life.
Cool spot!

Well, I think we opted to do something a bit simpler, we have our eyeballs on an glamping type thing east of us here, it might end up just being a night in the woods in a nice shindig place with a hot tub.

I think that when we're in BC in July on the bike perhaps we'll splurge at that point as a second little celebration, perhaps a night in the Fairmont Chateau in a nice suite or something.

I’ll be in Banff in September and staying next door in Canmore , The Fairmont is over a grand a night for a basic room in high season , I’m getting a whole house airbnb for $[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]] day . I love the Fairmont and have stayed there but I’ll have five people so nope .

How did you get an airbnb in Canmore? I thought they had that crap locked down tight to keep them out. Or are they allowed but only in specific areas?

That's as much as my entire water bungalow was in Bora Bora/night. 😫

Banff is zero AirBnb, locked out. Canmore is still ok with Abnb and VRBO , so far . Kids stay there every winterand drive into Lake Louise/ Sunshine for skiing . Even mediocre hotels in Banff have gotten spendy and now that Jasper is cooked , litterally , prices are on the moon.

I can't ever think of Canmore without..... Mike from Canmore.

For those who remember lol.

For those of you that don’t have a problem travelling to the US, Nashville is a great little road trip. I would recommend 2 nights staying downtown so you can walk to everything. Head an hour or 2 east to The Barber Motorcycle Museum and prepare for a 3 hour orgasm. In the same general area are The Mussel Shoals Recording Studios, watch the documentary made about 8 years ago and make sure you go to both studios for the tour. You can go into the tiny 2 piece washroom that Kieth Richard allegedly locked himself into for 20 minutes and came out with “Wild Horses”. Another hour or two east puts you into Memphis which I can take or leave but if your an Elvis fan you might as well do Graceland. I also highly recommend the Sun Studio tour as well as the Staxx Studio tour. I know a lot of people have a problem with what’s going on right now but I’ve met some of the nicest people there and I refuse to let one a-hole dictate where I’m going to travel to, he’s going to be gone in 3 1/2 years and the US will still be our neighbor.

We’ve been to Nashville and done Graceland etc about 10 years ago.

Not sure I’d go back, it’s a pretty unsafe city now.

According to the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting database, Metropolitan Nashville has a violent crime rate approximately three times the national average, and a property crime rate approximately 1.6 times the average.

Yeah, Memphis is a little sketchy but Nashville is much more upscale and safe. You won’t have any problems in Nashville. I call it Cashville and not because of The Johnny Cash Museum. It’s pretty pricey. We couldn’t find a room downtown for under $400 US a night, mind you it was last minute and a Saturday night.

We were there many years ago; I am not a country music fan, but the city has a very nice vibe. We did all the above and had a blast. Great places for food too. We were passing through and decided to stay for a couple of days.
