Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Mother *&^&^*. Trap door on the way to evict. No obvious entry points. Found a spot where they had loosened the soffit so they could get in and out but the flap closed behind them so it wasn't visible.

Bastards.

My daughter's neighbour thinks they're cute as they drink from her toddler's pool and play in their sandbox.

Had a mom raccoon get into our poolhouse by pulling off a vent that's in an awkward spot.
She and the babies stayed in the rafters, and remarkably tended to **** in the same spot.
There was a 3 foot mountain when we managed to evict them.
They managed to dig a hole in the floor where it had been a little wet.

No obvious wet spots from the bottom. Once I give mom a night or two to get evicted I will see what they have done. Bleeping stupid two storey attic will be a ***** to search. At least it's blown in insulation so I can see where they walk. The dropped to the soffit and used it at a catwalk so they could access the other part of the attic too. I'm not impressed by the whole situation.

Wear a respirator. Raccoon feces commonly carry one of those parasites with a lifecycle from a horror movie, and the eggs can be inhaled: Public Health: Raccoon roundworm

The mother that thinks it's cute for raccoons to play in the toddler's sandbox really needs to read that. There is no real cure or treatment.

Good idea. Nothing says fun like an hour or two in an attic in the summer with a respirator on.

I'd hire a good pest control company. Raccoons are vicious when cornered.

They climb pretty much anything but do you know the path they use to get up there?

We had some camping out on our roof, orginally they were climbing construction scaffolding at the neighbours between the houses. When that came down they switched to some evergreen trees close to the roof. I cut the trees down, that solved the problem...

I haven't seen them or caught them on camera getting on the roof so just guesses. I suspect they can climb the brick. I have some cedars that will become a few feet shorter this weekend (just shy of eaves now).

I investigated that. Called one I know the owner of. He doesn't do our area. Said >$400 to evict, repairs/remediation unknown until after eviction. One-way door was ~$100 plus some hardware cloth to make a chute. This won't be the only time something needs evicted.

EDIT:
Quick thermal scan from the bottom shows probably mom plus babies. A few batts disturbed in a vaulted ceiling (may need to drop soffit to fix one, others I can get from the top). No obvious latrine.

Would a few small nail holes up from underneath be visible. A long finishing nail on a stick?

Any way of pumping some bear spray through a small hole?

I could reach where they are sleeping from the hatch with bear spray. I dont need to do that though. Mom should leave voluntarily. Then inspect and pull kids out by hand.

Replaced the igniter on the pool heater. Ordered online and was ready for pickup an hour later (Toronto Pool Supplies, 400 and Steeles area). Cheapest price too .

Also been nipping at that hedge at the back. Not sure if I can trim it as low as the lower neighbors, but I might try.

I had buddy of mine build me an electric fence unit from plans off the internet. I need to see if I can get some line from my neighbour, then I'll set it up on the crossbar that holds all my feeders. Hopefully I'll get some nice videos of critters deciding they'll go elsewhere.

😆 booby traps are illegal, if some neighbours kid or pet touches it you may be in a world of hurt.
