New Royal Enfield dealer in town

How many kms on your bike?
Does it ride well?
Show us a pic!
Picked up April 15th from Classy Chassis in Lakefield, with the weather finally cooperating I'm in the midst of performing the first inspection (@618kms). Super easy to work on with service manual, parts list available online. Valve adjustment is screw/nut (no shims), that's tomorrow's job.
3 year warranty with roadside assistance, parts availability and price so far not a problem - you can't beat that.
Still sorting out suspension, but parts are readily available from TEC or Race Tech in the U.S. and Hitchcock's in England. Front end is a little soft (I'm 195 lbs) but the rear shocks seem fine for now. Stock made in Brazil Pirelli tires are old tech but so far so good.
One day I'll bite the bullet and get some of the S&S motor/exhaust stuff, likely after warranty is over.

Valve adjustment done. It took me (first time) about an hour and a half. No surprises, but if I'd done it the way the YouTube geniuses wanted me to it would have taken twice as long. The only tool I had to buy was a 14mm allen wrench, everything else is common hand tools.

Did they need adjustment after 600 km?

Next door neighbour has been busy farkling his Interceptor. New Tec exhaust system and a bunch of other little things.

Sounds ok. I can actually hear him leave now.

Has anyone used an IR camera after a hard ride to see if that shock reservoir is actually connected? After that one chinese video, I question all of them, especially on price point bikes.

those TEC exhausts seem crazily cheap to the point where i think they're just chinese made. i've seen reports of really bad fitting ones too. and their site sells "TEC brand" mirrors that are literally just cheap mirrors you find on ebay from china. hmm. although tbh i'd do it just for the weight savings alone.

welp...i did it. picked it up this weekend from OVC. i'm in the break-n period so no crazy riding (or ever really, since its pretty low in HP which is fine for my needs!).

getting used to the 'sportier' ergonomics after having mostly upright standard riding bikes for years.

super weird going from my current bike where its considered lugging if its running anything under 4000 rpm, to this bike that ideally churns along AT 4000rpm haha.

Looks good, congrats on your new ride!
(Watched a YouTube clip of Jay Leno taking a RE on a test ride and he was impressed)

its a beauty, congrats

lol what a joke.

3 days in. bike cuts out while riding. couldnt get it running again. seems like some fuel pump issue.
had to call the so-called free roadside assistance, who are based in the US and had absolutely NO idea how to deal with me being in canada.

ended up having to call CAA instead since i luckily still have a membership. its at flying squirrel now to get checked out. people there are great. this bike though, has me back to thinking "royal enfield is ******* garbage" (i know these bikes are not..but im ******)

Have them check all the lines and hoses underneath the fuel tank (of which there are many). The ABS controller lives under there, if the dealer had the tank off to do the brake caliper update something may have been left unattached or come adrift. When I had the tank up to check valve clearances I saw how easy it could happen.

this bike is from OVC and they received this batch of 650s with the calipers already replaced. they just look like noname calipers without any bybre branding on them. but yah no idea tbh. im on another royal enfield related forum and people are saying its been a more common occurrence of fuel pump relays (also cheap garbage relays that should be replaced) being overly greased and not seating very well.

in my case, the fuel pump still does its whirrrring sound when i turn the bike on, so its likely not the relay. but yah who knows...will update when i hear back from flying squirrel.

If it is the fuel pump relay it sits with 3 others under the ride side panel.
All of them are the identical and shared with Honda and Toyota cars.
Any auto parts store should carry them.

I dunno if theyre identical. This is just one of many threads i've been reading now about relay issues with the 650 whether its seated improperly or just downright failing.

so far it seems people are recommending to swap them for Hitchcock or panasonic relays.

in my instance it doesnt seem to be a relay issue (but im not certain yet). here is someone elses video with the relay / fuel pump issue where it never starts priming or is very intermittent with priming (this person had to turn it off and on several times to get it to prime again)

when i was stuck on the side of the road, each attempt at starting i always heard the fuel pump prime and do its whirrrring noise. Ahh well its in flying squrrels hands now.

im still mad as ****. leave it to royal enfield to make a bike in 2021 that cant even reliably fire up.

Whatever the problem is, it'll be something dumb - these bikes are pretty simple.
I hate to ask, did you check the fuses and battery connections ?

Why Flying Squirrel and not OVC. Shouldn’t this be a warranty issue?

I think FSM is a RE dealer (well they cohabitate with a RE dealer, not sure of the actual entwining, I assume the bike is at the RE dealer within FSM). Probably closer to his house than OVC?
