I thought he was a dangerous offender.

Why do the families of the victims have to go through this, recognizing his "Rights" to a hearing?

What possible use is he to anyone outside prison?

What would he do for a job and what company would want to hire him?

I'll chip in for a welder to shut his cell door forever.
 
I’m just glad he’s been out away as long as he has and wasn’t allowed our for ‘good behaviour’ or any other myriad of reasons.

I have a welder, no need to waste money @nobbie48.
 
Ouch, This is a day I thought we'd never have to see.
While I am hopeful he will be denied parole, the simple fact it is even an option is somewhat distressing.
Karla was very smart to make a deal before the "tapes" were found showing her true involvement and willingness.
She is now mostly forgotten by the media and the public which is the biggest win anyone with her past can hope for.

This is at least round two. He was denied before. He has killed and raped, been declared a dangerous offender and our system believes that he should have the opportunity to plea for freedom every few years. What a terrible system and a huge waste of time and money. Give the guy a piece of rope and solitary confinement and save us millions.
 
In his case this is just a set process. It is extremely unlikely he will get out but the system needs to follow the process. Every two years is a little much IMO as the families need to keep dealing with it.

For her, no doubt she worked the system and got off way too easy. I am torn, on one hand the media and general public should be constantly following her and making her life hell to re-balance justice, on the other hand apparently she has children now and they should not be punished this way as they have nothing to do with it.... Maybe once they are adults (might already be) society needs to start hassling her.... post her address, protest....

If the process is a bit much every 2 years than having the media constantly following her and reporting would basically be the same thing. I am guessing they don't want to hear either of their names let alone see articles about them.

We have these rights and he was allowed to apply for appeal after 25 years. It is painful, but everything about the case was painful and it will not be softened over time for the family, maybe dulled but they are living with that till the day they die. In this case it is easy to want to string him up and kill him but thankfully we have a system that is not motivated by emotion and revenge because there is going to be a time where they serve someone deserving of a second change, or maybe even wrongfully convicted.

I was reading about that earlier. Sounded like they did not know it was her as she goes by this other name now. Once they were informed she was no longer working with the school.
 
The hearing is a legal formality. When he finally leaves prison it will be in a box. The hearing will be news for two days, tops. Until the next hearing. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Was she no longer working with them because of the bad publicity or because they didnt know who she was?

The fact that she was able to be anywhere near children is the problem
 
There's virtually no chance he will get parole either today or any time in the future. It's unfortunate the two murder victims' families will have to go through this charade every 2 years going forward. Every 5 years would be a better yardstick

I would think it was they did not know who she was. How many sane people do you think would be able to work side by side with her if they knew what she had done? I had no clue what her new name was and would not be able to pick her out of a lineup.
