Stupidly overpriced motorcycle for sale thread

A well known Canadian racer, that raced Kawi's, before they had reasonable geometry (hint hint) used to take a hack saw to the steering head, cut a couple of slots into the bottom, then drop the frame onto the steering head, weld 'er up and go racin'
The good ol' days....
Not to name names, but would he be in the exhaust system business now ? :) :) :)

What's the concern? He's probably into it for ~24 and is asking 27 for basically a new bike. Apparently there aren't many of them and spring is coming. I've seen much crazier prices (from sellers anyway, KTM had it a bit steep imo).

brand new they go for 20k

He bought it and is trying to sell for 27.

20 + pdi + tax or are you saying dealerships are discounting huge from msrp?
im saying you lose money the minute you take it off the lot and trying to make a profit or even recouping is dumb

My guess is he finally got it, has been reading about skyrocketing used bike prices (especially dirt bikes) and decided to take a cheeky punt at turning a quick profit. Note the usual 'testing the waters' disclaimer. You also don't put a can on if you were planning to flip from day one.

The MSRP I saw was $21,449, so $27k is pushing his luck a fair bit. My guess is this bike is not the kind that inspires overpayment, as the rarity seems to be in the suspension, which is easily upgraded, so he'll probably not get what he wants.

I'm with @bigpoppa on this one. Buying a bike to take advantage of a market imbalance to profit off a fellow biker is a bit shady. I know it's fully within his rights, free market, worth what someone will pay, etc, but it's still a sh*tty move when folks are just wanting to get out and ride.

To me, whether it's a dbag move depends on why he bought it. He has other bikes, maybe he wanted it but in the crazy market is ok with letting someone else have it as long as he makes some coin. I would be annoyed but surprised if he bought it for the sole intention of selling. Easier to play that game at a much lower price point.

Might just be a simple thing of 'hey, if I find a sucker for a stupid price I'll sell it' with nothing to lose really except some kijiji idiots that want a few thousand off.

Same as our neighbour. Listed house for way over market, no bites, sign goes down.
Same as I'm going to try and trade the WRX...if I find a dealer willing to do a decent deal, then I'll go for it and a bike. If not...I still have a fun car.

If you end up keeping the wrx, go with the brz approach. Put narrower eco tires on it to make it fun at street speeds.

Normally I'd agree with you but he will sell it. And he will get over new price. Ktm fanboys want this bike and will pay to get it. You'd be surprised how many 790 rally editions landed here in Ontario.

ads been up for 30 days, so evidently not a lot of bites
