I wouldn't want to be a gringo in a banana republic right now. If you have a fist full of cash you'll be a target, if you don't you'll be useless baggage. Keeping law and order is gonna be tough in some of these countries -- corruption doesn't show much humanity when the going gets tough.

Your concerns are misplaced.

I have been okay...even happier...since adopting the realistic expectation that everything is ****, and to live is to suffer; I've repeated both here many times. By accepting this, my expectations are for managers and business owners to think only of profit and themselves at the expense of others. Though it's very nice that my workplace isn't doing that!

And @backmarkerducati , I think people need to think about others and less entitlement. I've been jogging every morning but make sure to run the **** away from anyone I see out of respect for them....and that they may have the virus. Though this is where the Western individualistic ideals clash with the Eastern's "we're a family" mindset and I am confident we'll see more examples of what you just stated lol

I'm going to guess there's a misunderstanding relating to the subsidies... Maybe?
But, if not.. and their boss really asked them to work while on they are on EI.... That's a huge mistake and your buddy has the boss by the balls.
Depending on the industry they work in and their contracts.. They may already have a case just from being laid off.

I can see that. That group has a different outlook on personal responsibility and probably give too much credit to the dumbasses that are still getting together in parks and public places. That's their opinion, not their behaviour.

Canadian conservatives are more likely to follow rules, just look at the COVID heat maps - highest concentration are in areas that are liberal strongholds. Any explanation for that?

Off the top, urban areas tend to be Lib vs Suburban/Rural Con so people are in closer quarters (population density), earlier March Break (QC) prior to the tightening of the travel rules meaning more people travelled and returned prior to quarantine protocols, also one week headstart, again in QC...more physical contact culturally like kissing on the cheek, etc.
