Recent movies you saw - recommend or no

I think the high praise given to Aquaman had my expectations to high for the movie. Really did not like it. Bad acting, not that interesting of a character or story in my opinion. DC has a LONG way to go before getting anywhere near the enjoyment I get from a Marvel movie and honestly not sure they can do it right now. The DC heroes are just not that interesting.
Oh I agree. I could tell from the trailers the movie wasn't going to be that great. Also because of all the other D.C let downs.
The directing was very cartoonish, very zippy and flashy, with nothing to feel like it had any emotional or visual weight to it. Just jumping to scene to scene. Yeah the acting as very average. Plus the marketing of these movies has been kicking into overdrive blasting you with how great it is, even before it hits the movie theaters, and with fake reviews. All the initial reviews praising the movie is a 10 outta 10... umm this is no Godfather movie.

The D.C hero's may seem that way (I have always been a Marvel person) but I think they haven't found the right story tellers and directors. Christopher Nolan did really well with Batman Begins.

The interesting thing is thay DC's animation group consistently hits it out of the park. I think that they do better than Marvel's animation crew by a fair margin. Maybe the live action folks should just hand off to the animation guys?

Will watch one day this week.
Did you read the book?
Did they stay true to it?

Although most here know I've always been a Prince fan, I was also very much a Mötley Crüe fan.
I was already aware of much of what happened except for the Nikki Sixx OD.

Looking forward to this.

I didn't read the book., but the wife is a huge Motley Crue fan. She said the movie was pretty much the same story as the book.
They do cover the OD and the car accident. There are a couple untruths in the movie, but they do point them as being untrue during to movie.
It was certainly worth the watch even for non fans of the band.

BubbleBee - I didn't have high hopes considering the other transformer movies are just trash... this is just boring, will not finish watching.

Holmes and Watson.... pure and utter garbage. I like Will Ferrell. Think has done some fantastically funny things, but not sure how this project got green lit or how they did not stop shooting mid production. Just awful and Americans trying to do British accents never works. Had a decent cast of some exceptionally funny people, 2 being Rob Brydon and Steve Coogan. Two people I love especially in The Trip, The Trip to Italy and The Trip to Spain. Those two shine in those movies. Feels unscripted and just fun to watch the banter.

I think I posted about this one above. Wife and kid went, because they couldn't get into anything else at that time. Most of the people that were in the theatre left part way through, it was that bad.

I could tell from the trailer that it was a stinker. I think Ferrell is past his sell-by date.

The Trip was OK but I couldn’t watch the others. It was a one trick pony and felt too much like a vanity project after that. Coogan is great in many other things though.

Back to the superhero movies. I ended up switching off an Avengers movie the other day as I just got tired of it. I’m done with all these Marvel/DC films now I think.

I thought I was an oddity, because I haven't found any of the superhero movies attractive, but others seem to be coming around now.

Ya it is comic book / super hero fatigue... just like Star Wars fatigue. They are churning out a new movie every year... give us a break and deliver something decent so we can enjoy it before the next one comes out.

Beach Bum

interesting sounding concept - washed up poet wasting away in Key West
and a strong cast, but it's just a jumbled mess, almost void of dialog
a series of scenes stitched together with a good soundtrack
and not much of a storyline, not worth the $15 and $30 popcorn
