If the back seat is narrow and the straps are long enough, then strap it to the back seat.
trying to not use a net for the helmet... wanting to find out if I can transport it without a net, backpack or jamming my arm through a helmet.
You can hook a helmet on a 2010 R1 pillion seat lol. You need to step your game up.... I've taken pizza's and other random things on my bike. You just find a way, bikers are supposed to be creative!

Don't carry it in a knapsack on an SS. Buddy had his GF's helmet bounce down the DVP after the knapsack blew open. Needless to say, he now own's a banged up helmet & is currently without a GF!
I use a little carabiner to hook the zipper tabs together, never had a problem.Your buddy needs to learn how to do up a backpack properly. I've never had one come open.

Yeah, I shook my head when he told me about this one.
Well it happens. I remember when I used to think that I was forgetting to zip up my backpack all the time.... nope, turns out riding like an idiot will just bad karma your **** all over the place for you.
Just because it happens occasionally doesn't mean it's a good reason to say using a backpack is a bad idea. That's like saying you shouldn't ride a motorcycle because there's a chance you might crash.
