VFR800F and CBR650F coming to Canada

I was thinking the same, but then I checked the Ninja 1000 (likely it's closest competition) and that retails at $14k even.

VFR definitely looks good

Speaking as a former owner of a 2011 Ninja 1000, there is no way in a million years I would ever choose a VFR800 over a Ninja 1000 at the same price. If Honda wants to sell a mildly re-hashed version of a popular touring bike, fine, nothing wrong with that - but they have priced the bike as a clean sheet design which it is not

Ninja 1000 msrp is $14k, CB1000RA msrp is $14k, FZ09 msrp is $9k. Except for the FZ, they're all in about the same ballpark

Sorry I should have clarified when comparing brand new non-currents (2013) to the VFR. Before someone states "well the VFR is a 2014 and your looking at 2013's" lets be honest it's appears that the mechanics behind the fancy new body work are really still the original VFR stuff from the mid-late 00's.

Personally I don't feel any under 1000cc street used bike should be over $10,000 new. Its just the way I see it.

Honda did a good job on the 650r in terms of competition. Currently there is almost no 650cc sport touring that looks like a supersport except maybe sv650s. The lower insurance category of this bike will attracts younger riders who want a fast supersport looking bike but lower insurance.

The 650 is probably going to be a really nice bike, even if it's not the nicest looking bike.

however when the US bike magazines get around to testing it, the usual crap will come out.

Doesn't have fully adjustable suspension, brakes are soft, lacks character, blah, blah, blah, lacks top end rush.

for 90% of us, It's probably more bike than we need, but the "experts" won't see it that way and they won't sell more than a handfull. I think if those guys had to pay for the bikes they ride, they might report things a bit differently.

Once again, where are the locking, hard, integrated side cases?

Yet another Honda VFR middleweight without them.

Honda surely has **** for brains.

Another VFR with a price tag that will leave them collecting dust.
Too bad, cause it's a great looking bike.

Wish they would bring the CB400 four to Canada. Have my eye on one in Australia trading in the ST1100 which I'm finding top heavy around town.

170 kg
52 HP
Upright seating.
Lovely little machine with an advanced VTech that actually works as advertised.

they're bringing the WRONG 650!! i'm still hoping Honda will bring the CB650F to Canada. I heard they're manufacturing the CBR650F in India so maybe that's a start?

LOL really Honda? Their bikes of late have been boring, overpriced and heavy as ****. They need a new direction, they've been milking their glory days for too long. Who the **** is going to buy this overpriced ugly bike? You can't even see the single sided swingarm!

They are showing some signs of change in the entry level bikes.
The CB500x is a brilliant all around machine - very light, sufficient horsepower and cheap for a Honda.

I wouldn't call the 500 light at all, given it is only a few pounds off the 600RRA (but makes a ton less power) and a lot heavier than the 250. Still a really nice bike though, and I probably would have started on a CBR500RA had it been out when I bought my 250.

I also wouldn't call the new 650 heavy either, as it looks like it is only 30 or so heavier than the 600RRA (around 430lbs and 460lbs), both fuelled and ready to ride. Then again maybe I'm biased as the CBR650F is definitely on my short list should I decide against a 600RRA for the coming season. Given the lower cost and likely $800/year vs $1800/year to insure (and also hopefully lower potential of theft), I'm seriously considering it.

the vfr (evolutionary) has some nice changes but, for 14.5k should include integrated hard panniers. Then I'd be interested. I think they'll be available (-2k) at dealers this time next year. I might be interested at 12.5K. but, curious what the insurance would be on this (782cc) in the GTA? I do like the new 650 but ergos look to be a bit cramped for us old farts.

the FZ09 looks to be the hot selling bike in the states right now. this would probably have very high insurance rates in the GTA and looks to be a ticket attracting hooligan.....

yamaha, I imagine, will be using that same motor in a sport-tourer hopefully next year and it should be interesting. Adventure version using the triple would be popular also IMHO.

Actually I got a quote with Intact for the FZ-09 and it is only 33 bucks more per year than my Z750S. How much the price will be next year after people have wrecked them and got them towed away is the other question hehehe.

Liking the new VFR! I do have one big complaint though... what's the point in having the single side swing arm if you're going to block it with the exhaust?! Would have loved to have seen them keep the under tail. Great look and and one of my favorite things about the look of the 6th generation.

Price as others have noted seems high, but Honda bikes seem to be over priced IMO.
