$1.50 / 250 kms highway....wow!

knew this a long time ago.. released in june i believe.

I don't think they are very good in this technology, Mark wants to make money, not really making inventions or improving things.

I will personally wait for other manufacturers to catch up with electric bikes, for instance BMW.

They should add different sound effects to the throttle. One day you can be an RSV4, next day a Duc, next day an R1 and so on. Or at least a hockey card and a clothes peg for the wheels.

I guess if you were around in the era of two strokes, you would complain that these new-fangled four strokes should made smoke and smell awful.

Cool bike. But not $30K cool.

Oh, BMW is not trying to make money? It's a non-profit organization?

The bike has internet connectivity, regenerative braking, 150hp, it's the first fast electric for sale in the US- what exactly is not innovative? A lot of the tech on this bike was developed in the Stanford area and is used by Tesla. The only other sports electric is an Italian bike with 1/3 the range.
The bike is designed for future upgrades, with new battery packs swappable.
Integrated HD cameras with telemetry overlay.
built-in GPS nav
Wireless helmet HUD support
top-grade Ohlins suspension, Brembo brakes.

The only real issue with these bikes is weight, they are close to 500lbs.

BMW's electric effort is a big scooter. Their car effort is definitely a joke. This is one aspect of motoring where the US actually leads the world.
I would be wary of any BMW electric -they have an awful track record with Bosch reliability in their cars.

Cool bike. But not $30K cool.

$30K for a bike like that from a small manufacturer, for the first release is pretty good. With lesser components, higher production rates, they could get this below $15K in a few years.

People pay >$30K for Hardly Movinsons.

This. and 10 min charging time?

I'm in.

I doubt you can charge in 10 minutes. The batteries are 12-17Kwh, with a 9 kwh charger ($1200), so it's 1.5-2 hours. They don't make sense in terms of money savings, yet.

The real advance in this tech is not battery storage, but super-capacitors, but that tech is tied up right now with the US DoD, Eestor, and Toyota. Super capacitors have little weight and charge in minutes (assuming you can find a line that can handle that charge rate).

Red Bull F1 and Toyota Lemans use super -capacitors instead of batteries.

The Mission RS is being produced in a limited production run of 40 units and costs $59,000. The cheaper priced Mission R will be produced in larger quantities using, from my understanding, lower spec'd but still high quality suspension, tires and some other parts. The RS apparently uses all top notch race quality parts.

Does anyone know if there is any significant difference between the Mission Motorcycles R versus the Mission Motors R that was released a couple of years earlier? There is a partnership between the two companies and I believe the electric motor is essentially the same. I wonder if the curb weight on the bike from Mission Motorcycles is the same as the one from Mission Motors; it tipped the scales at 545 lbs.

Not worth the 30k imo.

over 500lb top speed 120ish... What would be the point in this bike? A daily commuter?

No clutch or gearbox, no engine sound.

Seems to me that it takes the entire "fun" out of riding a superbike.

I think they are the same company. Mission sells its inverter and motor alone.

The weight depends on the size of the battery pack.

Except for the speed. It does make a sound, kind of like George Jetson's flying car.

But those who redline shift on the 403 and needlessly blip throttles at stop lights need not apply.

About the same point as 150ish sports bikes for public roads.

This is from another thread on this bike, but Jay Leno tried one, and bought it.

Here's some noise from the Isle of Mann TT zero in 2013.

One huge advantage to less noise is the cops won't know where to look.

Does it have traction control? ABS? What technologies have they invented seriously?

Just trying to create a sensible conversation here, internet connectivity, regen, hd cams, gps, hud, everything here are not new.

Nothing make us wow like the Tesla cars.

That's a nice video.

Really shows how much they've brought to step up the image of electric bikes.

Looks like an 1198 with an electric motor. If they got that range into the 300km's and charge time in under 10 mins. That'd be the home run. Sounds like a great city bike with the low heat, noise, etc.

They have the power inverter and motor as a patent design. No ABS. I'm not sure if TC is necessary on a motor hat has a true linear output.

The electronics stuff is not new..but this is a production bike you can buy -none of that is on any other bike.

What is new about Tesla? the batteries are from laptops, they still failed at trying to make a transmission, the basic electric motor is no different than 100 years ago.
Nothing new at BMW either.
