Why are so many almost brand new Harley Davidson's motorcycles so loud?

What how... the new 2014 and up are from what I have been told/heard are quieter then there previous models.

But generally Harley's are loud bikes, I know after a long day of riding it impacts me. Police riders have also said the same thing.

*just what we need another HD bashing thread

The #1 least used factory item on the face of the planet: Factory Harley exhaust systems.

Joking aside, it's one of the first thing probably 75% of HD owners yank off inside the first 4 weeks of ownership.

'Cause people stopped automatically buying a new louder exhaust with a new bike?

typically but not always
parked beside a late model Street Glide the other day
it had after market duals on it

owner geared up and pulled out before me
had a really nice low rumble
even after he hit it, still sounded nice
loud but not obnoxious

not all HD dudes are noisy doosh canoes
and I'll admit the bike almost gave me wood

Was behind a newish sportster the other day at a red light, could hear it idling through my closed windows and over the stereo.

Was stupid loud. But sounded effing glorious...

I may be biased but a Honda V4 with full exhaust sounds pretty sweet.

Not my bike but sounds just like her...damn I miss her

yeah all v4s sound dope!

Rides to nearest Tim Hortons and spends all day sitting there however.

If you actually ride long distances that sort of exhaust gets annoying even for the rider in about 20 minutes flat.

Aprilia’s V4 has had the best sounding bike titled locked up for a while.

heard one up close the other day, still maintain crossplane is king.
